Sonali Bendre has been undoubtedly one of the most evergreen actresses in Tinseltown. She has won innumerable hearts across decades with not just her exceptional acting prowess, but also her jaw-dropping beauty, charismatic personality and whatnot. In her personal life, Sonali is married to filmmaker, Goldie Behl and the duo is parents to their son. Back in 2018, the diva grabbed headlines after being diagnosed with metastatic cancer. However, after undergoing rigorous treatment in New York, she was declared cancer-free in 2021.
In a recent interaction with Mid-Day, Sonali Bendre talked about her experience on getting her first paycheck as an actress in showbiz. Since, she was a complete outsider to the industry, the magnanimous salary she earned was quite surprising to her. Sonali revealed that her first salary was a massive Rs. 25K. Adding how she felt at that time, the diva said:
“The thing that changed for me was when I saw the contract. Whatever you give and what they said they will give was also like 'what! I can make this and that got me thinking. So, I said, this world exists? And that's when I told my father, look at my age. I have the time. I have it on my side. I promise you, give me three years. If this doesn't work out, I will do what you're saying, but look at the amount of money. If it works out, I can use that for life.”

Speaking along the same lines, Sonali then mentioned how ending up as an actress became a way for her to help her family out of financial crisis. She mentioned how witnessing her father struggling to keep up the finances, she decided that acting was the best way that she could contribute to her family. In her words:
“If my father was not going through that kind of a struggle, and if I was not seeing how my parents were struggling and what they were feeling, I would have probably not stood up and said, I'm doing it.”
Earlier, in an interaction with Pinkvilla, Sonali Bendre tracked her journey in acting. The diva stated how she never wanted to become an actress in the first place. However, she fell in love with the craft as time progressed. She added:
“I’m an accidental actor. I was never inspired to be an actor. It just happened to me and as I progressed, the journey continued, I fell in love with it.”
