Who Is Srikanth Odela? 'Dasara' Director, Blockbuster Debut Film, Married To His Friend's Sister

Srikanth Odela is one of the biggest directors in the Indian film industry. He works as a screenwriter and film director in Telugu cinema, and with just one film, he has become one of the leading filmmakers in India. Srikanth Odela made his directorial debut back in Dasara, which is among the biggest blockbusters in Telugu cinema. It was in 2023 when Srikanth Odela signed natural superstar, Nani opposite Keerthy Suresh and the film, Dasara went on to register itself as the highest-grossing film of the year 2023.

It was in March 2025 when Srikanth Odela announced his second film with Nani titled Paradise, and it broke the internet. The reason behind it is the massive success of the duo's previous film together, Dasara. Not everyone is aware of the fact that Srikanth Odela has also announced a film with Chiranjeevi Konidela, which is titled Mega 157 at the moment.

The two movies in the pipeline for Srikanth Odela already look promising. As per the early predictions, if these two went on to walk in the footsteps of Dasara, then the filmmaker would be labelled as a "hit machine". Srikanth won the Best Debut Director award at the 69th Filmfare Awards South and the Best Director (Telugu) Award at the 12th South Indian International Movie Awards for his debut film, Dasara.

With everything that he has achieved with his debut film, Srikanth Odela's success story is nothing but absolutely fascinating. Despite having no direct connections in the film industry, the way he paved his way to become one of the leading filmmakers in South Indian cinema is inspiring. For the uninitiated, Srikanth had a passion for storytelling from an early age, which is why he decided to become a filmmaker.

At the initial stage of his career as a filmmaker, Srikanth Odela worked as an assistant director for the popular filmmaker, Bandreddi Sukumar, who was working on the film, Nannaku Prematho. After assisting Sukumar in Nannaku Prematho, Srikanth once again joined the filmmaker in his other film, Rangasthalam. After gaining much knowledge about movie techniques and production, Srikanth finally worked on his first feature film, Dasara, in 2023.

The filmmaker who won a million hearts with just one film, Srikanth Odela's relationship status is something that has been a topic of immense curiosity. For the uninitiated, Srikanth is a married man, and he has not revealed his wife's name publicly. The couple lives a low-key life and prefers to stay far from the reach of shutterbugs and media personnel. Srikanth got married on May 31, 2023, in his hometown of Godavarikhani.

According to a report in ETimes, Srikanth Odela is married to his friend, Shiva's sister. During the initial days of his struggle period in the film industry, the filmmaker used to deposit his earrings into his friend, Shiva's bank accounts. However, one day, one of Srikanth's friends approached Srikanth and asked him whether he was interested in marrying Shiva's sister.

In response, Srikanth Odela agreed and said if both families are interested, he is ready to marry Shiva's sister. Despite having a difference in their castes, Srikanth's friends convinced both families, and they got married soon after. The couple is leading a happy marriage at the moment. It is not known whether the filmmaker has any kids or not. We hope Srikanth continues to grow as a filmmaker and deliver more blockbusters like Dasara in the future.
