In his personal life, Rajamouli is married to Rama, and they have two kids. Well, did you know that Rajamouli's wife first rejected his marriage proposal for being a divorcee and a mom to a son? Yes! You read it right. In his Netflix documentary, Modern Masters: SS Rajamouli, Rama talked about the same and revealed why she was hesitant to accept the director's marriage proposal.

While making her appearance in SS Rajamouli's Netflix documentary, Modern Masters: SS Rajamouli, Rama Rajamouli revealed her love story with the director. She shared that she first met with the director at her sister's wedding. Rama remarked that SS Rajamouli is her brother-in-law's brother, and that is how they knew each other. Rama remarked that it was not a very romantic kind of equation when they were dating, as back then, they were mature.

Rama then stated that she was left surprised when Rajamouli proposed to her for marriage, which she thought to be 'meaningless'. Rama said that she instantly refused his marriage proposal, as she thought it was not a good idea because she was a divorcee with a son. For the unversed, Rama was earlier married, and they reportedly got divorced in 2000. The couple also welcomed their son, Karthikeya.

During the same conversation, Rama Rajamouli shared that it took SS Rajamouli one year to convince her to marry him. It was the director's constant effort that finally won Rama's heart, and their journey towards forever began. In the same conversation, Rama Rajamouli added that the director is very persistent with things, and it was after one year of her refusal, that they thought to give it a try and move forward. Rama could be quoted as saying:

"Like everything else, he is very persistent in his things. So finally, after a year or so, we thought we will go ahead with this."

For the unversed, Rama and SS Rajamouli got married in 2001. And they later welcomed their daughter, Mayookha. The couple reportedly had a court marriage, which was highly private. Rama Rajamouli has been working as a costume designer in her husband's film, and it was the director, who once revealed that it's not that his wife wanted or wished to do the same. But it was for him that she chose this path, as the director wanted someone who could read his mind, and his wife was the best fit in that aspect.
