Rakesh Roshan's Daughter, Sunaina Recalls Her Dad Crying On Hearing Her Pregnancy News

Popular actor-turned-filmmaker, Rakesh Roshan's daughter, Sunaina Roshan, has been a fighter. She has battled many health challenges that she faced for years. A few of them included cancer, fatty liver disease, and being addicted to alcohol. Sunaina remembered how she was coming out of alcohol addiction, when her dad was fighting cancer. She recollected him crying when he heard the news of her pregnancy.

Sunaina Roshan shares that her dad, Rakesh Roshan, broke down hearing her pregnancy news

Sunaina's dad, Rakesh, has been a survivor of early-stage throat cancer. He fought the same in 2018 and despite going through a hard time, the entire Roshan family has always been there for one another. Sunaina, in an interview with News 18 Showsha, revealed that her father has been protective and sensitive regarding her and shared how he broke down listening to her pregnancy news. In her words:

"Men have emotions, there’s nothing wrong with that. Men do need to cry as well, there’s no need to say that we haven’t cried. I have seen my dad cry so many times. When I was ill, and when he came to know I was pregnant for the first time. So, I have seen him having happy tears.”

Rakesh and Sunaina have been each other's anchors during adverse times. When in the interview, further she was asked about Rakesh's reaction when he came to know about her ill health, she said that he was shattered. Every time she and her family thought that it was the last illness, something new used to come up after 2-3 years. She shared:

"Today, even if I have a headache, I cannot tell my dad. It has to be hidden from him because he goes mad. He calls up 2-3 doctors to ask why I have got a headache. Because I have gone through so much, people think I am a pampered child. I am not.”

Sunaina also shared that it was very tough for her to cope with her cancer diagnosis. This was because she was told not to take stress after her rehabilitation. Sunaina, who had just come out of an alcohol rehab, could not take stress for 2-3 months. When she got to know about Rakesh's cancer diagnosis via video call, she was shattered. Her world came crashing down, and she could not even know how to face him. A man who is so full of life, for him to go through cancer was tougher than her fighting all her illnesses. For such an outgoing person to be just in bed, it was very tough for her to see that side of her dad.

Rakesh's life was never a bed of roses. It was in the documentary titled, The Roshans that the veteran star who became a filmmaker shared how a lack of opportunities in the industry, along with financial crunch, took a massive toll on him. He then went into the production department and then wore the director's hat. Even after the release of Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai, life was not fair for him as he was shot in 2000.
