Karisma Kapoor's former husband, Sunjay Kapur, in a shocking turn of events, passed away at the age of 53. Reportedly, it was on June 12, 2025, when he suffered a heart attack in the UK while he was playing polo. Sunjay was married to Karisma, and the former couple had two kids. He got married to Priya Sachdev for the second time. It was 6 hours before his demise that Sunjay had taken to his X handle to offer condolences to the passengers who lost their lives in the Air India crash.

Destiny had other plans for the 232 passengers and 10 crew members who were all set to go to London's Gatwick airport on June 12, 2025, via Air India flight AI171. Minutes after takeoff, the flight crashed into a doctor's hostel of the BJ Medical College. 5 medical students passed away in the incident. The flight had departed at 1.38 pm from Ahmedabad International Airport. Now, a couple of hours before Sunjay's untimely demise, he tweeted:

"Terrible news of the tragic Air India crash in Ahmedabad. My thoughts and prayers are with all the families affected. May they find strength in this difficult hour."

One user on X, seeing his tweet on the Ahmedabad aeroplane crash, tweeted, "It's unbelievable! Just a few hours ago, you posted, and now you're gone. Om Shanti!" Another social media user wrote, "Life has no guarantee— One moment you're mourning someone, the next, you're the headline." A third user also wrote, "Life is unpredictable. A few hours ago, you were praying for others, and now everyone is praying for you, Om Shanti Shanti Shanti." Others commented, 'Om Shanti' and even called it an 'unfortunate day'.

What did Sunjay Kapoor tweet three days before his demise on June 12, 2025?

The news of Sunjay's demise was first confirmed by Suhel Seth, an author and commentator. He had shared that the Indian automotive industry leader and the Chairman of Sona Comstar, Sunjay, passed away in England. He was playing a Polo match when he lost his life. Sunjay was a Polo enthusiast and was also the owner of the Sona Polo team. Sunjay used to participate in both domestic and international tournaments. Sunjay had no idea that his tweet on everyone's time being limited on Earth referenced his time being up. It was on June 9, 2025, exactly three days before his demise, that Sunjay had shared a Monday motivation tweet that read:

"Your time on Earth is limited. Leave the what-ifs to the philosophers and dive head first into the what-not."

Sunjay Kapur was a global leader in automotive components

Sunjay was someone who had a passion for sports and took part in the same regularly. He was the chairman of Sona Comstar, which is a manufacturer of automotive components. Apart from this, he was also the director of various boards and was a part of varied professional setups. Sunjay's efforts had made Soma Comstar one of the global automotive systems whose component manufacturing facilities were in India, China, the U.S., Mexico, and Serbia. Sunjay had become the chairman after his dad passed away.
