Sunny got huge recognition after working in the adult film industry at the age of 19. When her conservative Sikh family got to know about her profession, it was difficult for them to accept her. Once in an interaction with Mid-day’s Sit With Hitlist series, Sunny talked about her personal life and her mother’s alcohol addiction. She admitted that her career in adult films triggered her mother's addiction to alcohol. From reaching home late to doing something that her mother didn't like, her actions were trigger points for the latter. Elaborating more on it, Sunny said:
"So was I a trigger? Most definitely. It didn’t matter what I did, whether it was me coming home late or maybe doing something that you didn’t like, it was a trigger. And then when this happened, it was the stamp trigger."
Sunny Leone dated popular stand-up comedian, Russell Peters for a short period of time. In an old interview with Mid-Day, Sunny was asked about her feelings when Russell jokes about their relationship in his stand-up comedy shows. To this, Sunny revealed that she doesn’t mind those jokes about their relationship but calls her relationship with her ex-boyfriend, Russell, 'a mistake'. Talking about the same, she mentioned:
“Yes, you have to see it. I don’t know if he does it now, but now I am not upset about anything he says. It’s totally fine if it makes people laugh. It was a mistake. I genuinely believe that him and I were such good friends and we had so much fun together and everywhere I would travel in the US, there were a lot of places that he was at, because he was doing a show and we would just meet up and have fun, drink and go out, be really funny and silly. All of a sudden we messed up by going out on a date.”
Not many people know this, but Sunny Leone was engaged to Matt Erikson, vice president of marketing at Playboy Enterprises. However, after being engaged, the couple broke up in 2008, which shattered her a lot. During the reality show, MTV Splitsvilla X5, Sunny talked about her broken engagement for the first time. Speaking about the same, she revealed that she was once engaged before getting married to Daniel Weber. The actress was about to tie the knot in a destination wedding.

In the same show, Sunny shared that she had a gut feeling that something was wrong. When she asked her ex-fiance if he loved her, he denied it. She later got to know that he was cheating on her. The actress further added:
"This was two months before our wedding. A destination wedding in Hawaii, the dress was picked, everything was done... And it was like the worst feeling ever. But then God does amazing things and sends an angel, my current husband who was there when my mom passed away, and also when my dad passed away. And he has been here since. There is a bigger, greater plan for you and you deserve the best."
Sunny Leone and Daniel Weber’s love story is no less than any fairytale. It was love at first sight for Daniel when he met Sunny for the first time in LA. He was completely besotted by her beauty and charm and wanted to win her love. At a friend’s party, Daniel approached Sunny, and she politely declined him. But that didn't deter his spirits, and he kept trying by sending her flowers and e-mails.
On the other side, Sunny was just out of a serious relationship and was in no mood for any commitments. Daniel approached her several times, but Sunny had not paid much attention. After cajoling for two months, Daniel finally convinced Sunny to go on a date with him. But since Sunny wasn’t very keen to begin a relationship after a bitter break-up, she had deliberately reached late. But instead of being annoyed, Daniel remained calm and Sunny was quite impressed by him. After a few more dates, the lovely couple tied the knot in 2009 in Sikh and Jewish wedding ceremonies.
Sunny Leone's life has always been a roller coaster ride, but despite all the lows, she has always risen like a phoenix and conquered the world with her zest towards life.
