After ten years of filing the case against Promit and his family, in 2010, Swastika issued a press release. She revealed that the allegations she levied on Promit and his family were false. Before her confession, Swastika submitted an affidavit at a city court admitting that the charges she made against her husband and in-laws were “unfounded, false, baseless and speculative”.
In a media conference, when Swastika was asked why she falsely accused her husband and his family, the actress replied:
“I was young, I did not have enough sense back then and I did what my family, friends and peers advised me to do. I am deeply sorry for all that Promit and his family has had to go through. I hope he can move on.”
Reacting to her press release and statements, Promit Sen’s elder brother, Pritam Sen, stated that within two years of their marriage, problems started, and one fine day, Swastika charged the family with dowry charges. He also stated that he, his brother and the whole family went through hell for ten years with arrest warrants, defamation and trauma.

“No, it was an arranged marriage. I don't regret it (marriage) at all because the moment I think about that I could have lived my life without it, then I think that Anwesha would have not been there. And that thought just leaves my existence as fast as Flash.”
Swastika Mukherjee is currently leading a peaceful life and raising her daughter single-handedly.
