Uzma Ahmed's Pakistani Husband Refused Holding Gun At Her Head To Marry Her, 'It Was Happy Marriage'

John Abraham's movie, The Diplomat is currently streaming on the OTT giant, Netflix. The story revolves around the real story of India's daughter, Uzma Ahmed, who claimed to have been forced by a Pakistani man, Tahir Ali to marry him. Uzma's story in a nutshell shows how an Indian girl fell in love with a Pakistani man, trusted him, and went to Pakistan only to be tortured. The Diplomat, J.P. Singh helped her to get back to India. Let's have a look at what Tahir counter-replied to Uzma's accusations against him.

Uzma Ahmed's Pakistani husband, Tahir Ali's counter-claimed her allegations

In an interview dated back to 2017, Tahir Ali denied the allegations against him by Uzma Ahmed. In an interview with Newslaundry, Tahir said that Uzma came to Pakistan on May 1, 2017, and two days later, they tied the knot. While Uzma said she was tortured by Tahir, the latter stated that no problems took place in the days when Uzma stayed with his family in Buner. In Tahir Ali's words:

"She came to Pakistan on May 1, 2017 and on May 3 we got married. She stayed in Buner for three days with my family and during these three days there was no untoward incident."

Tahir Ali revealed his love story with Uzma Ahmed

Uzma stated earlier that when she reached Pakistan, she got to know that Tahir was married already and had four kids, information which she never knew during their courtship period. On the other hand, Tahir dismissed the claims. He said that he had told everything to Uzma, and that too, she would be his second wife. He also told Uzma that she would have to be behind pardha, as a part of the Pukhtun tradition. Tahir Ali could be quoted as saying:

"I discussed everything with her during these months……….I told her that I was already married and that she would be my second wife………….I also told her that she would have to observe strict Purdah after getting married with me……..no matter we live in Malaysia or Buner, she would have to observe purdah (veil)…..this is part of our Pukhtun tradition. But regarding Purdah, there cannot be any leniency…….our women folk observe Purdah wherever they go."

Tahir Ali said he and Uzma Ahmed had a 9-month relationship, and they stayed together for two months together

In the same interview, Tahir Ali revealed that he and Uzma stayed for two months together in Malaysia in his place, where they met through a friend. Uzma was there to do a business management course, and Tahir was a taxi driver. Uzma was an orphan and had a daughter from her first marriage, who had Thalassemia. The duo fell in love, Uzma went to Pakistan, and as per her, she was forced to marry him at gunpoint. Tahir could be quoted as saying:

"I met her (Uzma) in Malaysia in 2016, some eight-nine months back…….I was a taxi driver and she came to Malaysia on a visit where we met while she came to ride my taxi. She told me that she was there in search of a job. She told me that she has no place to stay and no money to eat anything………..I took her to my place and she stayed with me for two months. It was a happy marriage……….there was no problem…….and there was no scuffle."

Tahir Ali said there was no issue in the marriage and it was a happy one. He also shared that when he took her to the Indian High Commission in Islamabad to stamp his visa to come to Delhi, he was not allowed to enter. He mentioned that Uzma didn't return after hours. Tahir said he was told that a telephone call and a meeting would be arranged between him and Uzma, but it didn't happen. In Tahir's words:

How Uzma Ahmed reached the Indian High Commission in Islamabad

In Uzma's version, she told Tahir that her Indian brother would give them money for them as they got married. As Tahir was greedy, he took her there, and when Uzma entered, she revealed it all to the Indian diplomat, J.P. Singh. Later, she was given shelter in the Indian High Commission office, and finally, after a whole lot of struggles, Uzma reached India.
