Showtime's The Real L Word's star, Francine Beppu, passed away at the age of 43. Her family confirmed the same through a statement with TMZ. Francine was famous for her appearance on The Real L Word, a series that ran for three seasons, starting in 2010. The show followed the lives and relationships of LGBTQ+ women of L.A. and New York. Her sudden passing raised a sense of grief among her followers.
Apart from being a star of The Real L Word, Francine Beppu was also quite famous on social media, where she has thousands of followers. As she passed away at such a young age, people have been wondering what could be the reason for her passing. So, let's know what happened to Francine Beppu, that claimed her life at the age of 43!
Francine Beppu's family released a statement, wherein it was revealed that she passed away on February 17, 2026, at her home in Honolulu. Francine's family, in the statement, further revealed that they are grateful to know how deeply she was loved and how brightly she will continue to be loved. The family has asked for privacy to deal with this tough time.
There will be a celebration of life, which will be hosted by the family, once they are ready, and an announcement about the same will also be made, as revealed by TMZ. To mention, no further details about Francine Beppu's passing have been disclosed. The cause of her demise at such a young age still remains a question, and nothing about this has been disclosed either.
Francine Beppu's story is inspiring. She was the only child of her Japanese mother and Sansei father. She was closeted until she left her hometown in Nu'uanu, Oahu, to attend college at New York University. The gorgeousness later came to New York in 2008, and was given a chance to be on the show The Real L Word, which ran from 2010 to 2012. The Real L Word was a spinoff of the 2000 show The L Word. Well, while being on the show, Francine reflected on her journey, including her relationship and support from her mom, and also on her messy relationship with her ex-girlfriend, Claire Campbell Moseley, who was also one of her castmates.

Speaking about her work life, after she left the show at the end of season 2, she moved back to Hawaii, where she started working with the Hawaii LGBT Legacy Foundation, eventually becoming the president of the organisation. She also attended the Honolulu Pride Parade in 2015, and became a volunteer of the Hawaii LGBT Legacy Foundation, and then she also joined the board of directors as co-chairman of the marketing committee.
Beppu also worked with the NMG Network as a vice president of the network strategy. As per her social media, she also founded a public benefit corporation and a golf club called Badliars Collective. While being on the show, The Real L Word, she expressed her gratitude for her parents being supportive of her choice. Speaking about her community with Sa'Ke Film Group for National Coming Out Day, Beppu said:
"At the end of the day, we're all human. We go through the same emotions. One difference: when you're LGBTQ, you have to "come out," and I don't think a lot of people know how difficult that is. So it's about continuing to have these stories be told, to help us all better understand and be there for each other."
