'Saiyaara' Fame, Ahaan Panday Once Said That He Is Not Related To Chunky Panday, 'Funny That My...'

Bollywood has always been a place of famous families, where many new actors come from well-known film backgrounds. One of them is Ahaan Panday, who is currently making headlines for his powerful debut in the Mohit Suri film, Saiyaara. 

Fans are always quick to find connections of any newcomer and the same happened with Ahaan. Fans have been connecting Ahaan Panday and Chunky Panday. Amid this, an old video of Ahaan Panday is capturing attention, in which Ahaan refused having any connection with Chunky Panday.

Ahaan Panday’s refused having any connection with Chunky Panday

Years ago, in 2017, when Ahaan was 19 years old, he went live on Instagram to interact with his fans. During the live, a user asked him about his connection with Chunky Panday. After this, Ahaan looked a little annoyed and according to SpotboyE, he replied: 

"It’s funny that my surname is Panday, but I’m nowhere connected to him. My dad is Aloke Sharad Panday, and that’s the only Panday connection I have. I have established myself in the B-town through my popularity."

The exact reason behind why Ahaan denied all connections remains unclear. His statement sparked conversations on whether he said it out of misunderstanding or to distance himself from the tag of nepotism. In an era, where star kids get things easily, Ahaan probably wanted to make his position without any nepo tag. 

Ahaan Panday’s connection with Chunky Panday

Ahaan Panday is often considered to be a star kid because of his connection with Chunky Panday. The reality is Chunky Panday is Ahaan's uncle. Ahaan's father, Chikki Panday is Chunky's younger brother, which makes Ananya Panday and Ahaan Panday cousins. With such connection, many assumed Ahaan to enter the industry a little sooner, but Ahaan tried to make a name for himself.

Despite Ahaan's old statement of denying any connection, Chunky Panday has been the biggest cheerleader for Ahaan and Ananya. Recently, the actor also attended the premiere of Saiyaara and couldn't stop appreciating the film. He jokingly even shared a post on his Instagram Story, which said, "In a world of Kapoors and Khans, Pandays came out of syllabus." The post featured an image of him along with Ahaan and Ananya. 

Not just Chunky Panday, the entire Panday family was present at the premiere to support Ahaan Panday. From Bhavana Panday to Ananya, Deanne, and Alanna Panday, everyone cheered and appreciated Ahaan's powerful acting in his debut film. Interestingly, the recent appearance of the entire family did contradict Ahaan's old statement of distancing himself, but now, he was surrounded by the same circle. 

Ahaan Panday’s debut in Saiyaara

Ahaan Panday made his magical debut with the Mohit Suri film, Saiyaara, which released on July 18, 2025. The film was produced by Yash Raj Films and along with Ahaan, the film also stars Aneet Padda in the lead. The film follows the story of 'Krish Kapoor', who is a singer looking for a big break. For a song, he collaborates with an innocent journalist, 'Vaani', and eventually they fall in love. Their romance faces a heartbreak when 'Vaani' faces early Alzheimer's. As of July 27, 2025, the film has already crossed Rs. 235 crore, and it is all set to cross the 300 crore mark.

Ahaan Panday was born on December 23, 1997, to Chikki Panday and Deanne Panday. He has a sister, Alanna Panday, who is a popular influencer and youtuber. Ahaan studied at the Oberoi International School, and before making his acting debut, he worked as an assistant director on films like Mardaani 2, Rock On 2, and Freaky Ali. Despite being born in a high-profile family, Ahaan shared that he was the least pampered child and he has even slept in a corridor at times.
