Renowned comedian and actor, Tiffany Haddish has set the Internet abuzz with her latest Instagram post. On August 3, 2025, the Girls Trip star shared a cosy photo holding a baby alongside her long-time friend and Hollywood Unlocked founder, Jason Lee. Her caption, ‘Cats out of the bag’, has ignited a storm on social media, with fans and fellow celebs speculating that the 45-year-old comedian may have just hard-launched her motherhood!
Tiffany, who recently announced being celibate and dating ‘multiple guys’ in her ‘roster’, sparked serious discussions about her personal life with her latest post. From Instagram to Reddit, users are speculating multiple possibilities, with a particularly popular one: could Jason be more than just a ‘close friend’?
But as they famously say, things aren't always what they seem. The baby in question might not be Tiffany’s after all. Following the strong buzz about parenthood, Jason later posted that the baby is his cousin’s 6-month-old grandson, Major. Still, Tiffany has not addressed the buzz nor cleared the air about parenthood. And her silence has only deepened curiosity, especially given her well-known desire to become a mother and the painful journey she has faced trying to get there.
This isn't the first time that Tiffany Haddish made it to the headlines and sparked curiosity around parenthood. Over the years, the actress has opened up about her numerous painful encounters with failed pregnancy while discussing her deep desire to become a mother and the roadblocks that came in the way.
In 2023, Haddish revealed the shocking fact that she has suffered eight miscarriages, a devastating consequence of her long battle with endometriosis, an extremely painful condition that often affects fertility. The intense pain has even caused her to faint in multiple instances. While these experiences did take an immense toll on her physical health, the emotional impact was much deeper.

In an interview with PEOPLE, Tiffany opened up about her painful struggle, both physical and emotional, with endometriosis, speaking up about her multiple pregnancies that eventually ended in failure. The actress shared:
"Every time I find out I'm pregnant, I’m like, ‘Don’t drink, don’t smoke, don’t do nothin’. Even if I don’t really want [the baby], I still try to give it a chance.”
Tiffany's most recent miscarriage was in 2023, and after years of struggle with her fertility, the Girls Trip fame declared that she's currently ‘celibate’ and is reconsidering the possibility of marrying again or getting pregnant. However, a part of her still deeply wants to become a mom one day.
Tiffany is a popular name in the entertainment industry, known for her positive aura, graceful red carpet appearances and comedic sense. However, her journey to stardom has been anything but seamless. Unlike many other fortunate celebs, Tiffany's story is not one of overnight success but of survival and strength. Growing up, family has been a vague concept for her, given her years in foster care.
Before becoming known as a comedic powerhouse, Tiffany Haddish was a foster kid in Los Angeles after her mother suffered a traumatic brain injury from a car accident and eventually developed schizophrenia. Haddish, along with her four siblings, entered foster care, where she was tossed around three foster homes and two group homes, even separating her from her siblings for a period.
In her interviews, the star comedian reflected on her experience in foster care, revealing that she wasn’t even sure she would make it to her eighteenth birthday. In a 2024 interview with CBS News, Haddish recalled how foster care stripped her of dignity; even her belongings were handed over in trash bags. The Self-Made star shared:
"I grew up in the foster care system, and I was getting moved around from house to house with my things in trash bags, and that made me feel like garbage… I remember the day somebody gave me a suitcase and made me feel like a person, like I was a traveller, a visitor. Like I was on a journey."
However, it was during her time in foster care that she discovered comedy as a survival tool. Constantly moving between homes, she used humour to cope with instability and connect with strangers. Before reuniting with her grandmother, who later became her legal guardian, comedy became her anchor, helping her hold on to her identity in a world that often felt uncertain and chaotic.
After the traumatic cycle of foster care, Tiffany had to request court permission to get a driver’s license or perform a stand-up. For her, freedom, even in the simplest form, had to be fought for.
Today, Haddish is one of the most sought-after comedians in Hollywood, and now, it’s her turn to give back. Having been open about her difficult years in foster care, she’s now ‘paying it forward’ through her She Ready Foundation. The organisation donates suitcases to foster children so they never feel disposable and also offers life skills training, internships, and housing support to young adults ageing out of the system.
Whether this week’s baby buzz was real or just playful, one thing is clear: Tiffany Haddish is already a mother to countless foster youth who find hope in her story. With no particular plans about motherhood as of now, she is ready to embrace it for whoever needs her love.
