The 71st National Film Awards gave respect to many talents in the world of Indian cinema. Karan Johar, Rani Mukerji and Shah Rukh Khan were among the few who received their first-ever prestigious awards, despite decades of hard work. But one name that stood out was a four-year-old Marathi actress, Treesha Thosar. She has become the youngest child actor to win a National Film Award.
Treesha Vivek Thosar received the loudest applause at Vigyan Bhawan, where President Droupadi Murmu bestowed her with a National Film Award. Treesha received the award for her performance as 'Chimi' in the film Naal 2. The gorgeous little girl was dressed up in a simple white-hued saree.
She looked adorable as she walked on the stage, and several dignitaries present there applauded her, including Rani Mukerji and Shah Rukh Khan. Treesha's win stood out amongst 332 feature film entries across India. She etched her name in the GK and history books by being the youngest recipient of the National Film Awards.
Treesha acted in Sudhakar Reddy Yakkanti's film, Naal 2, which was produced by Nagraj Manjule. Her performance and screen presence were highly praised by both the jury and the audience. The film depicted the beautiful days of childhood and the family bonds that form during that time.
It is also worth mentioning that Treesha was barely three years old when she shot the film, which makes her acting even more impressive. Treesha received the National Award with the Swarna Kamal, certificate and cash prize. She also cemented her place in the record books as the youngest actress in the category.

Treesha Thosar is the daughter of Vikas Thosar and Gautami Thosar. She was born in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, in 2022. She studies at Holy Cross Convent School in Mira Road, Mumbai. Despite her young age, Treesha has made a strong footing in Marathi cinema.
Talking about her acting career, she started with her television appearance in Pet Puraan. She worked alongside famous celebrities such as Siddharth Jadhav and Mahesh Manjrekar. However, she received immense love with her performance in the Marathi film, Naal 2, which was directed by Sudhakar Reddy Yakkanti and produced by filmmaker Nagraj Manjule. Before her national Award win, Treesha received Best Child Artist award at the Zee Chitra Awards in 2024 and the Maharashtra State Film Awards in 2025 for her work in Naal 2.
In the film, Treesha played the role of an innocent child living in the backdrop of rural Maharashtra. The role made her achieve the award for Best Child Artist. Veteran actor, Kamal Haasan also congratulated Treesha for her performance. He even highlighted that she had beaten him, as for the longest time, he was the youngest winner of the National Film Award. He had received the honour at the age of six.
