Twitch Releases Statement After Streamer, Emiru Got Assaulted At Their Event, '...Deeply Upsetting'

After the scary incident of Emiru during a meet-and-greet event, Twitch has finally released an official statement regarding the security and safety.

Twitch Releases Statement After Streamer, Emiru Got Assaulted At Their Event, '...Deeply Upsetting'

The first day of TwitchCon 2025 took a shocking turn when popular streamer and cosplayer, Emiru was allegedly assaulted by a man during the event. What was supposed to be a fun and exciting gathering, soon turned into a moment of fear and concern, when an unknown person came on stage and tried to grab Emiru without consent. The video sparked debates about security in such events. Regarding the same, Twitch has issued a statement.

After the scary incident that happened with Emiru on the stage of TwitchCon, the event managers of the event took to their X (formerly Twitter) handle to share their thoughts on the same. In their long note, they mentioned that safety and security is their priority and what happened with Emiru is something unacceptable and upsetting. A part of their note can be read as:

"The safety and security of all those attending TwitchCon is our highest priority. The behavior displayed by the individual involved in the incident yesterday involving a high profile streamer was completely unacceptable and deeply upsetting."

They continued to explain what happened at the event, after he was removed from the stage, when he forcefully tried to grab Emiru. In their X post, they also revealed that they have increased security and will make sure that such an incident doesn’t happen again. They shared:

"We have increased security at the Meet & Greet attendee check-in point and will have additional security personnel surrounding participating streamers. If you’ve RSVPed for a Meet & Greet, please note that we are unable to accommodate +1s for the remainder of the event. Twitch has zero tolerance for harassment or acts that inhibit the safety and security of our community."

On the first day of TwitchCon 2025 in San Diego, a short video of the same went viral, which showed popular streamer and cosplayer Emiru being grabbed by a man while she was taking part in a meet-and-greet. In the clip, the man suddenly rushed towards her and leaned in to grab her. When the security pulled him away, Emiru looked shaken and the man seemed to hold something, which looked like a pen. This sparked a wave of debate on social media, as fans questioned the intentions of the man and the security of the event.
