In an interview with Prakhar Gupta on his YouTube channel, Vivek Oberoi shared that one must open their heart to feel again after experiencing a heartbreak. He then recalled watching his childhood sweetheart pass away while she was just 17, and he was 18. He mentioned that he lost her to cancer at such a tender age and that, too, in front of his eyes. Vivek Oberoi could be quoted as saying:

In the same interview, Vivek Oberoi mentioned that it was a kind of puppy love between them, where they would share each other's cards and handmade gifts. Vivek further shared that he was certain he would marry his then-girlfriend once they grew up. Vivek then expressed his grief and shared how that girl was diagnosed with cancer in January, and within two months, he just passed away. In Vivek's words:

"We fell in love when I was 13, and it was that kind of ‘puppy love’ where we gave each other cards. I was very sure that she was the girl I was going to marry when I grew older, and we had thought about getting married, having kids and the rest of our lives together. Suddenly, she went away. She was diagnosed in January, and she was gone by March."

Vivek also mentioned that he is a very emotional and sensitive kind of person, and he doesn't like to live with the constant fear of getting his heart broken, which he has already done. He mentioned that when he navigates with heartbreak, he feels very lonely, and that's not his nature, so it feels like he is a fish out of water. Vivek said:

"I have always been very emotional and sensitive throughout my life. I don’t like living in fear of getting my heart broken again, because I have done that before, and I know what that feels like. When I insulate myself after a heartbreak, I get very lonely, and that isn’t my nature. If you do something completely against your nature, you will automatically feel like a fish out of the water."
