The mysterious death of 15-year-old Celeste Rivas has left Los Angeles reeling. While the public is angry over the young one's demise, it has put the singer, D4vd, under a cloud of scrutiny. Earlier this month, the teenager's dismembered remains were found in the trunk of a Tesla. Shockingly, the Tesla was registered to the 20-year-old musician, David Burke a.k.a D4vd.

The shocking discovery, made on September 8, 2025, in the Hollywood Hills, has dominated headlines ever since. At the same time, social media is filled with new speculations around the case, where fans have drawn connections between Celeste and the Romantic Homicide singer.

Celeste Rivas's death certificate is out

According to TMZ, the outlet obtained the official death certificate of Celeste Rivas. It included the cause and manner of death, which was mentioned as 'deferred'. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner performed an autopsy, but the authorities are waiting for toxicology results before determining how the teenager died. Without those findings, investigators cannot yet say whether her death was due to foul play or involved any other causes.

At the same time, the certificate further clarified some details that had been circulating online. It confirmed that Celeste was found inside a vehicle and that she was not pregnant at the time of her death nor in the year prior. LAPD Captain Scot Williams highlighted that those results are crucial for their investigation to know whether Celeste died from foul play or other causes. Until then, the LAPD has continued to classify the matter as a "death investigation" and not a homicide.

Why has no one been arrested in Celeste Rivas' death case?

Ever since social media users discovered alleged connections between D4vd and Celeste Rivas, they have been curious about why he, or anyone else, has not been arrested in the case. It has sparked outrage among some online communities. However, legal experts emphasize the importance of "probable cause." However, they have searched his home and seized his electronic devices for further investigation. ABC News legal contributor Brian Buckmire explained on Good Morning America why the LAPD is not arresting the singer and said:

"Law enforcement does not have the answers they need to be able to confront or question D4vd. Without a confirmed cause and manner of death, there is no legal ground for an arrest."

Were Celeste Rivas and D4vd connected?

One of the biggest questions surrounding the case is the nature of the connection between Celeste Rivas and the rapper. The 15-year-old's mother told TMZ she had an "eerie feeling" her daughter was the one found in the Tesla and revealed that Celeste had mentioned dating someone named "David." Both Celeste and D4vd have the same 'Shhh..' tattoo on their fingers, but it is a common design among celebrities, too. Fans online have also surfaced photos and video clips they claim link the two. However, D4vd himself has been silent on the matter. After initially continuing his tour, he canceled his Seattle show once police confirmed Rivas' identity, followed by the European leg as well. Meanwhile, everyone is waiting for more insights on the case.

The LAPD and Celeste Rivas' family is awaiting her post-mortem results which would provide a clarity on whether any third person was involved in her death or not.
