Bollywood actress, Janhvi Kapoor is one of the most stunning actresses in B-Town, and there's no second thought about it. Janhvi followed in her mother's footsteps and managed to mark her name in the Hindi film industry. She is the spitting image of her mom and legendary actress, late Sridevi. Time and again, Janhvi has left her fans amazed by her similar looks to her mother, whom she was extremely close to.
In 2021, Janhvi Kapoor appeared on the show, Social Media Star, and talked about the conundrum related to the name of her spelling. Mentioning how her name is a little different from the common spelling of the word, Janhvi revealed that she got the spelling of her name wrong for eight years. Sharing the reason behind the same, she stated that her mom, Sridevi once told her the wrong spelling of her name, which she continued to follow till the age of 12. Janhvi was heard saying:
“When I was in school, I had just started learning how to spell. I genuinely didn't know the spelling of my name. Mom (late actor Sridevi) was showering in her bathroom, and I yelled out to her. ‘Mumma, how do you spell my name?’ She misspelled my name. She said J-A-N-H-A-V-I. And for some reason, I never questioned it. For eight years.”

Janhvi further recalled the hilarious incident when she found out the correct spelling of her name and mentioned how her friends still make fun of her about the same. The actress revealed that when she was travelling to London with her family, she saw the correct spelling of her name on the passport. She said:
“We were going somewhere, I think to London, and I finally opened my passport, and I was like, my whole life has been a lie. My friends still make fun of me. Every time I tell them something, they say, ‘You need to shut up because you didn’t know how to spell your name until you were 12'."

Legendary actress, Sridevi breathed her last in February 2018, and her sudden death came as a shock to the entire nation. Once in an interview with Barkha Dutt, Janhvi Kapoor talked about how difficult it was for her to deal with the loss of her mother. She mentioned that she felt a weird sense of relief after her mother's death, as she believed that after all the privileges she deserved something bad. Talking about the same, she said:
"When I lost mom, of course, there was this huge tragedy, there was a hole in my heart. But there was this horrible feeling of ‘something bad has happened’ to justify all the great things in my life and all the privileges and the things that I got easily which I heard my entire life. I thought ‘Ok now something bad has happened. I deserve this. I deserve this horrible thing that has happened to me. It was a weird sense of relief."

Once in an interview with the Indian Express, Janhvi Kapoor talked about her mother, Sridevi, and revealed that she feels more connected to her mom's South Indian roots. The Dhadak actress shared that she considers herself more of an 'Ayyappan' than a 'Kapoor'. Janhvi even mentioned that she feels comfortable and secure in the South Indian culture and environment.
For the unversed, Sridevi passed away after drowning in a bathtub on February 24, 2018, in Dubai.
