Devendra Fadnavis is leading all the headlines at the moment after Congress leader, Kanhaiya Kumar targetted his wife, Amruta Fadnavis. For the uninitiated, Kanhaiya started a fresh controversy when, in his recent statement, he stated that the responsibility of saving the religion should be on everyone else and not just the common people. Further in his statement, the Congress leader took a dig at Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis' wife, Amruta, for making Instagram reels.
Congress leader, Kanhaiya Kumar's statement, "Or will we fight to protect 'dharma' while the deputy CM's wife makes Instagram reels?" has taken national politics by storm. Soon after Kanhaiya remarked on Amruta Fadnavis' personal life, her husband, Devendra Fadnavis sat down in a conversation with ANI to address the controversy. The Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra clearly stated that people who target his wife should be ashamed of themselves. He said:
"Sharam aani chahiye, chullu bhar paani mein doob marna chahiye."
Further, in his conversation with ANI, Devendra Fadnavis also revealed that he and his wife, Amruta Fadnavis, have received much hate on social media for the past five years. When asked about Amruta's reaction to the online trolling, Devendra revealed that he had told his wife that it was the cost we need to pay to be in politics. He said:
"I am not surprised by this. My wife and I have suffered for the last 5 years. Their troll army makes allegations against my wife, but I told my wife that we are in politics and we have to keep patience. They only wanted to defeat Devendra Fadnavis. But I gained from this due to my track record."
