Bhamini Oza Gandhi is more than just the wife of Scam 1992 star, Pratik Gandhi — she is a powerhouse performer in her own right. The actress is a celebrated name in television and theatre alike. You might remember seeing her in the iconic Indian sitcom, Sarabhai vs Sarabhai, where she played the characters ‘Kissme’ and ‘Rita’. But that’s not all — Bhamini has appeared in numerous Hindi and Gujarati television shows over the years. Beyond her professional achievements, Bhamini is also a cancer survivor who battled and conquered a brain tumour, emerging stronger than ever.
Bhamini Oza’s acting journey found its roots in her childhood days. She was in school when she first started acting, and later, she participated in several inter-college competitions. In a 2024 interview with the Times of India, Bhamini shared:
“I started doing plays while in school and also participated in many inter-college competitions. Once, I had to portray Lord Krishna and I relished that challenge. I still vividly remember the day when I got to perform at the Prithvi Theatre for the first time. It was a dream come true and turned out to be an unforgettable experience.”
Bhamini has been a returning face in Indian television, popularly known for her roles in iconic shows like Khichdi, Sarabhai v/s Sarabhai (as Kismi), Ek Doosre Se Karte Hai Pyaar Hum, and Ek Packet Umeed. She was also seen in Na Bole Tum Na Maine Kuch Kaha (Season 2). Apart from television, she has made a name for herself in Gujarati theatre, with acclaimed performances in plays like The Waiting Rooms.
In 2012-13, Bhamini was diagnosed with a brain tumour, and she had to let go of pivotal roles that could have altered her career. She was finalised for a lead role in the serial, Ek Doosre Se Karte Hain Pyaar Hum, but after her diagnosis, the role went to Pariva Pranati. In a 2013 interview with TOI, Bhamini shared:
“I am grateful to God and thankful to my surgeon, who identified the tumour at the right time. The tumour could have affected my facial nerve during the surgery, leading to a temporary facial paralysis.”
However, Bhamini did not let her illness define her. Throughout the ordeal, her engineer-actor husband, Pratik Gandhi stood by her side like a rock. With immense courage, she faced surgery and a challenging recovery. In the same interview, Bhamini recalled:
