Why Did Savannah Guthrie Increase The Reward For Her Missing Mom Despite Doubts Of She Being Dead?

Today Show host Savannah Guthrie's mom, Nancy Guthrie, is missing, and the case is taking new turns every day. The family continues to seek help from the public regarding any leads to find their missing mother. Recently, Savannah and her siblings announced an offer of up to USD 1 million for any lead on their missing mother.

Why did Savannah Guthrie increase the reward?

Since Savannah increased the amount, people wondered why. However, as per recent reports, the reason behind the increase in reward is due to the hope that it might push any active lead. Savannah believes that the amount might motivate those who have been reluctant to come forward to share what they know about Nancy.

Savannah has also used the term “up to USD 1 million" because if there is more than one valid lead, then the amount can be split. Apart from the reward from the Guthrie family, the FBI’s USD 1,00,000 reward is also active. It is also mentioned that the family will follow the guidance of the FBI to understand if the lead is valid for a payout. A source close to the family informs PEOPLE:

“The family first raised this on the first day of the investigation and has been ready to do this ever since. They were advised by all involved in the investigation that doing so earlier might overwhelm the infrastructure set up to field leads, tens of thousands of which have been coming in organically."

How far has the investigation into Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance reached?

Recent investigations led the team to recover DNA from Nancy Guthrie’s property that does not belong to her. Earlier, a black glove was found two miles from Nancy's home, which the officers believe belongs to the masked intruder seen on the victim's doorbell camera. A separate DNA was found on the glove.

Amid the ongoing investigation, former FBI Assistant Director, Chris Swecker, expressed serious doubt regarding Nancy Guthrie's disappearance and believed that she might already be dead since there is no ‘proof of life’. He also pointed out at his suspicion on whether Nancy’s missing was really a kidnapping or the motive was something else.

Savannah Guthrie feels her mother, Nancy Guthrie, might already be dead, but is still hopeful

In a recently released Instagram video, Savannah Guthrie pleaded to the public to help her find her missing mother. She also stated that she feels that Nancy might have already gone to God and is not alive, but the family is still hopeful and believes in a miracle. Speaking about the same, Savannah emotionally said:

"I'm coming on to say it is day 24 since our mom was taken in the dark of night from her bed, and every hour and minute and second and every long night has been agony since then of worrying about her and fearing about her, aching for her, and most of all just missing her. She may already be gone. She may have already gone home to the Lord that she loves and is dancing in Heaven with her mom and her dad and with her beloved brother Pierce and with our daddy."

Reports claimed that the suspect in Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance visited her home previously

Earlier, the FBI released high-resolution surveillance photos and video clips from the ring camera footage from Guthrie's home. The footage revealed a potential suspect, a male with an average build and about 5-feet-9-inches tall. He was seen wearing a black, 25-litre ‘Ozark Trail Hiker Pack’ backpack.
