YS Sharmila Debunks Age-Old Relationship Rumours With Prabhas, Claims She Has Never Met Him

Yeduguri Sandinti Sharmila Reddy, commonly known as YS Sharmila, is an Indian politician who currently serves as the 24th president of the Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee. She is the younger sister of the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh,  YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. Recently,  YS Jagan Mohan Reddy's statement amid a feud between the brother and sister caused a storm in the media. 

YS Sharmila shuts down the rumours of her link-ups with Prabhas

YS Sharmila recently criticised her brother, Jagan Mohan Reddy, for spreading false rumours about her link-ups with Telugu actor, Prabhas. She ferociously debunked the accusations and accused her brother, Jagan, of spreading such vile claims against her to further his political career. Recently, misleading information regarding YS Sharmila circulated on the internet, where she was speculated to have been dating the Baahubali actor for more than ten years. Addressing the accusations at a press conference in Hyderabad, Sharmila shut down the rumours. She shared:

"I swear on my children, I don’t know Prabhas. I’ve never had the opportunity to meet him. Jagan’s social media staff is spreading these unfounded rumours."

YS Sharmila questions YS Jagan Mohan Reddy's intentions

During the same conversation, YS Sharmila questioned Jagan's concern for her when he aired a clip of hers in an attempt to show concern. She said that Jagan would have responded to the accusations about Balakrishna or his social media account if he actually cared for his sister. She further questioned Jagan's calibre as a chief minister and asked why he didn't do anything during his tenure as the chief minister. She said:

"Jagan would have responded when accusations were made about Balakrishna or his social media account if he had loved and cared for his sister. Why wasn’t anything done during his five years as Chief Minister?"

Prabhas had also addressed the rumours in a Facebook post in 2014

Rumours regarding YS Sharmila and Prabhas surfaced on the internet in 2007 when the actor was filming for Yogi. It is said that the speculations were because Sharmila's father, YS Rajasekhara Reddy’s relative, Ravindranath Reddy, was the producer of the film. This coincidental link led to rumours that the duo were in a relationship. In 2014, Prabhas was forced to address the rumours in a Facebook post. He called the rumours embarrassing and shared that he had never met Sharmila. He had shared:

"There have also been several embarrassing rumours about my alleged relationship with Ms. Y. S. Sharmila. I would like to make it clear that I have never met or spoken to Ms. Y. S. Sharmilla, and the rumours that are circulating are wholly untrue and unfounded." 

YS Sharmila shared that power has changed her brother, Jagan Mohan Reddy

Sharmila recently shared that Jagan has drastically changed ever since he assumed power. She further shared that he had also attempted to deny her the rightful portion of their late father’s estate. Sharmila founded the YSR Telangana Party in 2021, which she merged with the Congress early in 2024 and became the president of the Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee.
