The 2025 edition of the Indian Premiere League (IPL) began with a full-blown celebration in Kolkata’s iconic Eden Gardens Stadium on March 22, 2025. Just like all other years, it is not just the on-field performances that are keeping the audiences hooked. This year, five of the cricketers are returning to the IPL field for the first time after getting married, and all eyes are on whether their ‘lady luck’ will shine on their performances.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) opened the 2025 edition of IPL on March 22, 2025, playing against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). This year, the team has more than one player playing IPL for the first time as married men, with their wives cheering for them from the stands. One of them is left-arm pacer Chetam Sakariya, who married Meghna Jambucha in 2024. Chetan was roped in by KKR as a replacement for Umran Malik. Although he was signed for Rs. 75 lakh, his ability to swing the ball could make him a crucial asset for KKR.
Mohsin Khan is the left-arm pacer of Lucknow Super Giants, and he joined the married players' club on November 11, 2024. As per reports, LSG is investing Rs. 4 crore in him for this year’s IPL. Only time will tell if the player can make his mark in the game with the support of lady luck on the stands.
The hard-hitting left-hander from South Africa rode the marital wagon when he tied the knot with his long-time girlfriend on May 28, 2024. This IPL season, Miller is playing as a part of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), and reportedly, the franchise invested a whopping Rs. 7.8 crore in him, given his finishing abilities. The sensational leg spinner from Afghanistan, Rashid Khan, tied the knot, reportedly to a close relative, on October 3, 2024, in an intimate ceremony in Kabul. He is allegedly one of the highest-paid players of this season, with the highest retention amount. For the 2025 season, Rashid Khan was auctioned at a staggering Rs. 18 crore. He is playing for the Gujarat Titans.
Venkatesh Iyer has become the star player in KKR after its glorious victory in IPL 2024. In June 2024, Venkatesh got hitched to his longtime girlfriend, Shruti Raghunathan. It looks like the all-rounder's wife has already started bringing him good luck as shortly after his wedding, Iyer’s fortunes soared when KKR went all-in for him at the auction. He is one of the highest-paid players of this season’s IPL, with KKR securing his retention in exchange for a staggering Rs. 23.75 crore. This year, Venkatesh Iyer is playing as the vice-captain of the team, and all eyes are on him to deliver an impactful performance with both bat and ball.
Cricket fans have always been curious about the wedding magic that shines through newly married players’ exceptional performances on the field. Now, it’s just a matter of waiting to see whether the same applies to these five-star cricketers this year and if KKR made a good bargain with Venkatesh Iyer’s Rs. 23.75 crore tag.
