After Isabelle Tate's Sudden Death At The Age Of 23, '9-1-1: Nashville' Pays Heartfelt Tribute

Sudden news of rising actress, Isabelle Tate on October 9, 2025, paused the television world. The actress, who made her screen debut in the pilot episode of the ABC series 9-1-1: Nashville, succumbed to a rare form of the neurological disorder Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease (CMT), which causes progressive nerve damage and muscle weakness.

9-1-1: Nashville paid tribute to Isabelle Tate

Rather than letting her memory fade quietly, the makers of 9-1-1: Nashville chose to pay tribute to Isabelle in a meaningful way. In its forthcoming episode, season 1, episode 4, the show ended with a dedicated 'In Memoriam' card honouring Tate, displaying her name alongside the years of her birth (2002) and death (2025). Tate appeared in the pilot episode of the series as ‘Julie.’

Filmed in June and broadcast in early October, her brief but impactful role introduced her talent to national audiences. Her character’s storyline also touched on issues of disability and discrimination, and, given her own life, an especially poignant note. In one scene, her character, seated in a wheelchair, is referred to by a patron as 'hot wheels,' and the narrative forces a reckoning with prejudice and perception. In the pilot episode, audiences were introduced to Hunter McVey’s Blue, a stripper performing at a bar.

Hunter McVey talked about Isabelle Tate

Those who worked with Tate remember her for more than her on-screen presence. Her 9-1-1: Nashville co-star Hunter McVey described how she brought great energy and support during their shoot, especially on McVey’s first assignment day. “I couldn’t have asked for someone better to work with… she brought joy to a lot of people,” he said in a conversation with PEOPLE.com. He said:

"I didn’t know Isabelle prior to filming, but I couldn’t have asked for someone better to work with on one of my first-ever days on set. I was terrified, nervous, and after each take, we would get to exchange a couple words, which were always supportive from her."

In her honour, the show’s tribute is timely and heartfelt. Besides the memorial card, the family has requested donations be made to the Charcot-Marie-Tooth Association instead of flowers to support awareness and research into the disorder that claimed her life.

All about Isabelle Tate’s CMT

Isabelle was diagnosed with CMT at the age of 13. She embraced the challenge with remarkable resilience. She shared on social media that the condition had progressed to the point where she required a wheelchair full-time, but she refused to let it define her. Friends and family described her as ‘full of fire,’ a ‘fighter,’ a lover of animals and music, and someone who volunteered regularly at animal shelters.

The disease affects the peripheral nerves, leading to muscle weakness and loss of sensation, and eventually requires her to use a wheelchair. Tate was open about her condition and used her platform to raise awareness about CMT disease. She passed away peacefully on October 19, 2025, from complications related to the disease.
