Junaid Khan is the son of Indian actor, Aamir Khan and film producer, Reena Dutta. Known for his reserved nature, Junaid is one of the few celebs who have stayed away from social media. The actor made his debut in 2024, with the Netflix special film, Maharaj. 

Junaid Khan opened up about being diagnosed with dyslexia

Junaid Khan wowed the audience with his impeccable performance in the film Maharaj. The actor recently opened up about being diagnosed with dyslexia when he was around 6 years old. He revealed that the actor's parents, Aamir Khan and Reena Dutta, realised that their son needed some help after reading the script of Aamir Khan's popular film, Taare Zameen Par. This film features a child with dyslexia, who was played by Darshan Safary. Junaid that he received a lot of help very early on in his childhood. He also stated the diagnosis as the primary reason why his parents were never after him to score good marks during his academic years.

Junaid Khan sat for a candid conversation with Vickey Lalwani on his YouTube channel. During his conversation, he was asked whether his parents were strict about his studies and academic records. The actor responded to the host, Vickey, by saying that it had never been the case in his home. He was quoted saying: 

"Neither of my parents were particular (about my results)… I was also diagnosed with dyslexia very early on. So, I think they were mindful of that especially in schooling."

Junaid Khan revealed how Taare Zameen Par contributed to his diagnosis

In the same conversation, Vickey Lalwani asked Junaid Khan if his diagnosis prompted his father, Aamir Khan, to do the film, Taare Zameen Par. Junaid responded to him and stated the circumstances were actually the other way around. He revealed that it was when his parents, Aamir and Renna Dutta, heard the script that they realised that he was dyslexic. He was quoted saying:

"Actually, I think it was a little bit the other way around. When they heard the script of Taare Zameen Par, they were like, 'Ek second… We have seen this in our lives.' And actually, it was at that point that they took me to a specialist, and I was diagnosed with dyslexia."

The actor, Junaid Khan, continued the conversation and revealed that he was diagnosed very early. He added that it was because of the help he received that it didn't affect him as much growing up, and he called himself lucky. For the unversed, Junaid Khan will soon be seen alongside Khushi Kapoor in Loveyapa. Later in the year, the actor will also make a film with Sai Pallavi titled, Ek Din. He stated:

"It was very early. I must have been six or seven years old. I received a lot of help very early on, so it didn’t affect me as much growing up, but… So, in that sense, I think I was lucky.”
