Bollywood’s most loved singer, Arijit Singh, made headlines in January 2026 after he made a shocking announcement of quitting singing. The singer also revealed that he will no longer take on any projects and is all set to end his journey as a playback singer. After Arjit’s announcement, his entire fanbase was left heartbroken. Recently, Aamir Khan visited Murshidabad in West Bengal to meet singer Arijit Singh.

Aamir Khan reveals Arijit Singh made up his mind to quit playback singing

In a conversation with journalist Subhash K Jha, Aamir Khan opened up about his recent visit to Arijit Singh and revealed that he didn’t go there to convince the singer, but he did try. Speaking about the same, Aamir said:

“I was in Murshidabad a few days ago. I wasn’t there to convince Arijit not to quit singing for films. I was there for another purpose. Though I did try my best to persuade him to reconsider, it was in vain. He seems to have made up his mind.”

In the same conversation, Aamir also shared what transpired during his visit to Murshidabad to meet Arijit Singh. The actor stated that he was there for the rendering of Ek Din songs. Aamir revealed that he convinced Arijit to sing 5 songs for his son, Junaid’s character in the film. Speaking about the same, he said:

“I was there for his rendering of the Ek Din songs. I convinced him to sing for my sake. He is singing for Junaid’s character. Since Ek Din was an earlier commitment, he wanted to complete it. The film has five songs, and he sings all of them."

Born in Murshidabad, West Bengal, Arijit Singh’s musical journey began when he participated in the reality show, Fame Gurukul in 2005. Arijit rose to fame with the 2013 film, Aashiqui 2 and his song, Tum Hi Ho broke all the records, making him one of the biggest playback singers in Bollywood. On January 27, 2026, Arijit Singh made an announcement through his social media handle, in which he revealed quitting playback singing.

He started the note by wishing his fans happy new year. He thanked them for listening to him all these years. Arijit further expressed happiness on announcing that he is not going to take any new assignments as a playback vocalist from now on. He stated that he is ending his journey and called it a wonderful journey.
