Aamir Khan is one of the most loved actors in the film fraternity. He is known for his roles in films like 3 Idiots, PK, Taare Zameen Par and Dangal. The actor is also known to the entire Bollywood world for being a perfectionist. However, there was a time when his passion for acting led him to do some of the grossest things. Nonetheless, the impeccable portrayal was all that the actor cared about and presented to his audience. So, let's take a look at why Aamir decided to make such choices.
Aamir Khan recently sat for a conversation with ABP Live, where he shared some of the most candid insights into his characters in the film and his process of getting into that zone. However, it was the actor's prep work for his role in Ghulam that left the audience surprised. During the conversation, Aamir was asked if the rumours of him not taking a bath during the filming of Ghulam were true. The actor admitted that they indeed were correct and he did not take a bath for 12 days while shooting.
Elaborating on why he made the decision, Aamir Khan revealed that while shooting for Ghulam there was a long action sequence, where he was beaten up. However, if he had taken a shower, the injuries he had got during the shoot would have been washed off, and that would have interfered with the continuity of the scene. He added that as a solution, he decided not to take a shower till the scene was done. He was quoted as saying:
"In Ghulam, there was a long action sequence in the climax where I get badly beaten up. Gradually, my injuries started increasing. If I had bathed every day after shooting, it would have ruined the continuity. So I decided not to bathe for a week to maintain the same look and feel for the scene. Because when you bathe the next day, you end up looking fresh—which I didn't want."
In the same conversation, Aamir Khan revealed that Ghulam was not the only film he did so for. He recalled that while shooting for Raakh, and shared that he had gone without taking a shower for days for the film as well. He revealed that he was playing the role of someone who lived on the streets, and that wouldn't have looked as real if he had taken a bath. He was quoted as saying:
"I've done this not once, but twice. During the filming of Raakh, I didn't bathe because my character lives on the streets after leaving home. I wanted it to feel real, so I avoided bathing to look like someone who’s actually ended up on the road."
Aamir Khan recently announced his next film, Sitaare Zameen Par. The film is being described as the spiritual sequel of his 2007 super hit film, Taare Zameen Par, and the fans are beyond excited to see what the actor has in store. The film will star Genelia Deshmukh alongside Aamir and will be directed by RS Prasanna. The film will also be introducing some fresh faces, including Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, Samvit Desai, Vedant Sharma, Ayush Bhansali, Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Naman Mishra, and Simran Mangeshkar. The movie is scheduled for release on June 20, 2025.
