Aamir Khan Replaced Original Director Of 'Taare Zameen Par' Says Darsheel, He Said 'I Am Going To..'

Aamir Khan is popular as 'Mr. Perfectionist' in Bollywood. The actor has a reputation for giving his hundred per cent to any role and film that he takes up, showcasing his passion for the craft. However, this perfectionist image also comes with certain criticisms. Aamir has been accused by many industry insiders of taking over the creative process of the films he is in and sidelining directors. Though the actor recently refuted these claims, his co-star from Taare Zameen Par, Darsheel Safary, says that he clearly remembers Aamir Khan taking over Amol Gupte's role as the director.

Darsheel Safary said that Amole Gupte directed the first few days then Aamir Khan took over

Aamir Khan made his directorial debut with Taare Zameen Par in 2007, which went on to become a commercial hit and a highly acclaimed film. However, Darsheel Safary, who was the star of the film with his portrayal of 'Ishaan Awasthi', recently opened up in an interview with Vickey Lalwani and said that Amol Gupte was the original director of the movie, and he remembers that the first few days of shooting happened under Gupte's direction. But then Aamir took over the job, stated Darsheel.

Darsheel Safary recalled that a scene was completely reshot by Aamir Khan even though Amol Gupte was present on the set

Talking about Aamir Khan sidelining the original director of the film, Darsheel Safary said that a scene was reshot completely by the actor despite the fact that Amol Gupte was present on the set. He went on to state that Aamir Khan said to all the actors present in the scene to forget everything that was shot. Aamir reportedly said that Amol Gupte will be there as the writer and the creative director while he will direct the film. As per Darsheel Safary, Aamir Khan had said on the set:

“He told us forget everything that we just shot. I am going to direct it. Amole sir is right here and he is going to be on the set as a creative director. It is his film, I will make it, we all will make it together. Forget who is the director.”

Darsheel Safary talked about his equation with Amol Gupte and Aamir Khan

Darsheel Safary revealed in the interview that he was great friends with Amol Gupte and is still in touch with his son, Partho Gupte. He also stated that Gupte had spotted him in a class of choreographer, Shiamak Davar and cast him in the film. Meanwhile, as a child actor in Taare Zameen Par he had been scared of his co-star, Aamir Khan said Darsheel.

Amid Darsheel Safary's revelations, Amol Gupte had once opened up about his fall out with Aamir Khan

Amol Gupte was the writer of the film Taare Zameen Par, he was also credited as the creative director of the movie while Aamir Khan was the director and producer. However, in an interview with Hindustan Times, Amol Gupte revealed that he had been there on the sets throughout the whole shooting process.
