Aamir Khan is one of the prominent names in Bollywood, who has mesmerised audiences ever since he stepped into the world of glitz and glamour. He has been the lead actor in popular films like Raja Hindustani, Taare Zameen Par, 3 Idiots, PK, Dangal, and many more. Apart from his successful professional front, the actor’s personal life has always garnered attention. Aamir got married twice, first in 1986, to Reena Dutta. The former couple has two children, Junaid and Ira, but unfortunately, they separated in 2002. Aamir then married Kiran Rao in 2005 and welcomed their son, Azad. The actor’s second marriage could not last long, and the two got divorced in 2021.
Recently, Aamir talked about his divorce from Kiran and shared an interesting anecdote about their bond. At present, both the industry stalwarts have their hands full with the promotional events for their upcoming film, Laapataa Ladies. At ABP Networks’ Ideas of India Summit, Aamir shared that he once had asked his ex-wife, Kiran, about what he lacked as a husband. Aamir said:
“Ek mazedaar cheez hai. Hum logg ka divorce abhi hua hai aap log ko pata hi hoga. Ek din shaam ko main baitha hua tha, maine bola Kiran, kya lagta hai as a husband mujhme kya kya kami thi? What can I improve abhi aage chalra hu life mein.”

Aamir recalled the moment when Kiran was ready with a list of points. In the list, his ex-wife mentioned that the actor talks a lot and never lets the other person put their point forward. She also mentioned that Aamir likes to keep talking about his points only. Revealing further details on the same, Aamir recalled what Kiran pointed out:
“She said haan likho. Bakaeda mujhe points likhwae gaye. Aap bahut baat karte hain, aap kisiko baat nhi karne dete, apne hi point pe ghuse rehte hain. Kuch 15-20 points maine likhe hue hain.”
Previously, in one of the other interactions, Aamir Khan questioned if it is necessary that two people who were once married and eventually parted their ways, have to turn hostile against each other. For those who don't know, despite being separated, Aamir and Kiran remain on good terms. The latter even shares an adorable bond with Aamir’s daughter, Ira Khan, and his first wife, Reena, which was clearly visible during Ira's wedding festivities in January 2024. On News18 Chaupal, the actor said it had been his good luck that Kiran came into his life, and their journey together was very fulfilling. He said:
“Yeh koi doctor ne kaha hai ke divorce ho jata hai toh aap foran dushman ho jaate hai? Yeh meri khushnaseebi hai ke mere zindagi mein Kiran aayi aur humara safar bahut hee fulfilling raha mere liye. Bahut kuch banaya humne saath mein, personally and professionally aur agge bhi hum saath mein hee hai. Hum insaani aur jaazbaati taur pe jude huye hai aur humesha rahenge. We are like a family.”

Whil having a conversation with Puja Talwar, Kiran Rao revealed that she and Aamir never had any major fights. Although the two had their fair share of arguments, they never indulged in big fights. She further shared that maybe they respect each other a lot, and that’s why they never had a fight which can even be termed as antagonistic. She shared:
“We have our disagreements, but we never have big fights. It is also because I think we respect each other a lot. We understand each other quite well, it is just a case of finding the right argument to convince the other person or to be convinced. Our relationship is like that, and we are both not too proud to agree. We have had our share of ups and downs, but never anything that I could term even vaguely antagonistic.”
