A 21-year-old student, Vanshika Saini was found dead on Ottawa beach. She was the daughter of an AAP leader and was missing for four days.

Vanshika Saini, a 21-year-old Indian student, was found dead on Ottawa beach on April 28, 2025, after being missing for four days. Vanshika reportedly didn't reach back to her rented accommodation after she left for work on April 22, 2025. Vanshika Saini was the daughter of the Dera Bassi-based Aam Admi Party (AAP) leader, and her sudden demise has raised concern all around.

Dera Bassi-based Aam Admi Party (AAP) leader, Davinder Saini's daughter, Vanshika Saini completed her senior secondary in Dera Bassi. She was a topper there, and later, she got a two-year degree program in health studies in Canada. Along with her studies, Vanshika started working. She worked in a call center and later, got another opportunity in a private clinic. It was on April 22, 2025, when Vanshika left for work and didn't return to her apartment.

Vanshika's friends tried to contact her but failed, following which they arrived at her locality, and found out the news about Vanshika being missing. Her friends instantly contacted her family, who then reported the same to the embassy and Canadian leaders. Following this, Vanshika's family contacted the police, who suggested him to contact the embassy in Ottawa online and also lodge a missing report. After four days, Vanshika was found dead on a beach in Ottawa. As per a report by the Hindustan Times, Vanshika's family last spoke to her over the phone on April 22, 2025.

The report also revealed that a postmortem examination was conducted in the meantime, and it would take some time for the body to bring back. Vanshika's demise was confirmed by the Indian High Commission in Ottawa. In a post on X (Previously Twitter), it was confirmed that Vanshika's dead body was found in Ottawa. It was also revealed that the matter was undertaken by the concerned authorities, while the investigation into Vanshika's sudden demise is still going on. The note from the Indian High Commission in Ottawa can be read as:

"We are deeply saddened to be informed of the death of Ms. Vanshika, student from India in Ottawa. The matter has been taken up with concerned authorities and the cause is under investigation as per local police. We are in close contact with the bereaved kin and local community associations to provide all possible assistance."

Vanshika Saini's dad, Davinder Saini is an AAP block president in Dera Bassi, and he is in charge of the office of local AAP MLA, Kuljit Singh Randhawa. Randhawa recently paid a visit to Davinder Saini. Talking to the Hindustan Times, he shared that Vanshika was a really good student and she was doing good in Canada. Randhawa further mentioned that Vanshika's demise came as a shock to them. As per the MLA, the higher authorities of the political party were informed about the same, and they are currently helping the family to bring back Vanshika's body as soon as possible.
