Recently, Aarti Ravi took to her Instagram handle and penned a long, heartfelt note on hitting a rough patch in marriage. The note seemed like a subtle dig at Vijay Thalapathy and Trisha Krishnan’s alleged affair. Although Aarti didn’t mention any name in her note, netizens connected the dots and guessed that she had mentioned Sangeetha and Vijay Thalapathy’s trouble in marital paradise. In the note, Aarti questioned whether empathy for a wife depends on her husband’s social status. She added that the dignity of a wife should never depend on the stature of her husband. An excerpt of her note can be read as:

"Does empathy for a wife depend on the market value of the man involved? Or does it take the right political or social moment for her feelings to be seen and heard? While we are finding our voices today, it is worth remembering that empathy should not be reserved only for the powerful. The dignity of a wife should never depend on the stature of the man involved."

It was during the event that Vijay Thalapathy finally opened up about the ongoing divorce drama involving him and his wife, Sangeetha Sornalingam. Addressing the crowd, the actor-turned-politician told them not to worry about the recent problems surrounding him. He also assured them that he would take care of himself and his family. In his words:

"Don’t worry about the recent problems surrounding me. Those issues are not worth your time. I will take care of them and myself. What hurts me the most is seeing you feel sad or stressed because of my problems."

On February 27, 2026, Sangeetha filed for divorce from Vijay Thalapathy. According to a report by The Indian Express, Sangeetha has filed for divorce from Vijay at the Chengalpattu Family Court. Her petition was filed under Section (1)(a), (b), (d) and Sections 36 & 37 of the Special Marriage Act, 1954. However, the shocking part of her divorce plea was that she discovered an alleged affair involving Vijay and a female actress in April 2021. Although she didn’t mention the name of the actress, Sangeetha claimed that despite repeated assurances from Vijay, he continued the illicit relationship and also kept travelling abroad with the actress. The petition can be read as:

"The respondent continued travelling abroad and attending public events with the said actress. The actress regularly posted photographs of these outings on social media. The respondent neither denied nor objected to these posts, thereby tacitly endorsing them. These posts widely circulated, causing repeated humiliation to the petitioner and the children."

On March 7, 2026, reports from Gulte and India Today claimed that Sangeetha filed a new petition against the actor-turned-politician in which she has sought the right to stay in their matrimonial home or to be provided with an alternate accommodation. Earlier, a report by Tamil Filmibeat claimed that the Jana Nayagan actor has proposed an alimony of Rs. 250 crore to his wife. The couple shares two children, Jason Sanjay and Divya Saasha. Recently, Jason removed his dad’s initial and has opted to credit himself as Jason Sanjay S. This S reportedly stand for his mother, Sangeetha Sornalingam.
