Aarya Babbar Reveals Why He Spoke About Not Being Invited To Prateik's Wedding, 'He Disrespected...'

Prateik Babbar, son of Raj Babbar and late Smita Patil, is a well-known actor admired for his work in films like Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, My Friend Pinto, Dhobi Ghat, Baaghi 2, and more. He recently grabbed headlines after he gave another shot to love and tied the knot with actress, Priya Banerjee on February 14, 2025, in a private ceremony at his mother's residence. But, apart from the news about his wedding, his decision not to invite his father, Raj Babbar, stepmother, and half-siblings, Juhi Babbar and Aarya Babbar, surprised the netizens. The important news was shared with the media by Aarya Babbar, and in a new interview, he revealed the reason for taking the personal feud in the media.

Aarya Babbar reveals why he shared family details on Prateik Babbar's wedding with the media

Aarya Babbar first broke the news that the Babbars' weren't invited to Prateik Babbar's wedding in a viral conversation with the Times Of India. In a new interview with Bollywood Bubble, he shared the reason for doing so. He explained that he wished the best for the newlyweds but felt everyone needed to know that Prateik particularly disrespected his father, Raj Babbar, who was the love of his late mother, Smita Patil. In his words: 

"I wish the couple the best, but I think it was very important for the world and our industry and media and for our friends to know that the boy did not call his father and the boy did not call his family. It was important for everyone to know that he disrespected the love of his mom, Smita Mam, and I think I have communicated that already."

Aarya also mentioned that he doesn't want to elaborate on any further details because it would seem like he wants to gain something by marketing key updates about his family. At the same time, he highlighted that it's a sensitive and emotional moment for his family. However, he is thankful for those who reached out to them and hopes that someday Prateik Babbar will think and realise what went wrong and reconsider his decision. Aarya said: 

"Now, if I sit down and talk about it, it would be more like trying to gain some kind of marketing. It is a sensitive time of hurt and emotions for our family, so thank you. Please keep us in your prayers; hopefully, the boy will someday have some brain that he uses. Thank you so much."

Juhi Babbar confirms that Prateik Babbar's wife, Priya Banerjee, is not the reason behind the fued

When Aarya Babbar first shared the news that Prateik hadn't invited his father and their family to his wedding, he emphasized that someone had 'overpowered his brain.' A few netizens felt that he was possibly pointing towards the Baaghi 2 actor's newly wedded wife, Priya Banerjee. However, in an interview with Times Of India, Aarya's sister, Juhi, refused the claims and mentioned:

"Right now, he is surrounded by a few people — whom we don't wish to name — who have influenced him. But we don't want to sandwich him in the middle because that won't help anyone. When I say sandwich, it doesn't mean Prateik is caught between Priya and us — absolutely not. Priya is a wonderful girl, and he is extremely fortunate to have found a partner who truly loves and understands him. The real sandwiching is happening because of someone else — someone desperate for publicity and importance."

Prateik Babbar and Priya Banerjee got married in an intimate wedding ceremony at the residence of his mother and late actress, Smita Patil. The couple wore custom outfits by Tarun Tahiliani for the big day, and in the inside glimpses from the wedding, Prateik was seen getting emotional during his wedding. At the same time, after the wedding, they danced their heart out with friends and close family members in a wonderful celebration.
