“To sustain myself, I started working as a waiter at a hotel. After a few months, when I was working in the kitchen department, we had a party which was Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor’s reception."
One incident changed Aasif Khan’s life forever as during his struggling period, he got an appointment with a casting agency, but he was mocked for his looks. Aasif was told that he was neither attractive nor his body was up to the mark. Instead of taking the negative feedback to heart, he asked the casting manager what should he do to get into Bollywood.
The casting person suggested that he should learn acting first and get the basics right. So, Aasif made up his mind to return to Rajasthan and enrolled himself in a theatre group in Jaipur, where he worked for six years. Later, he came back to Mumbai to try his luck in the entertainment industry again, and he got the job of a casting assistant.
He appeared in films like Ready and Agneepath as a junior artist and was later seen in films like Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, Pari, Pagglait and many more. His performances in Pataal Lok, Mirzapur, Jamtara, and Human earned him a lot of applause. He is well-known for playing the role of 'Ganesh' in Panchayat and was last seen on the big screen in Sanjay Dutt and Mouni Roy-starrer The Bhootni.
