Abbey Romeo and David Isaacman, are the most popular stars of Netflix's Love on the Spectrum. However, the beloved couple has reportedly broken up after nearly five years of dating. The news came as a shock to their fans, who predicted them to be the endgame. Notably, the duo even discussed marriage, making the split even more unbelievable to the public. Their fans predicted something was off between them because they hadn't posted any couple content on social media since December 2025. However, Abbey and David's breakup still came as a heartbreak to them.
Abbey Romeo and David Isaacman first met at a speed-dating event, which led to their first official date on July 12, 2021, at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park, according to Art Threat. On that date, they bonded over their shared love of animals. Abbey and David also discovered that they shared a deep understanding of each other's conditions, as both are on the autism spectrum and experience synesthesia. For the unversed, synesthesia is a phenomenon in which sensory perceptions, such as colours and sounds, overlap. The duo then joined the first season of the Netflix reality series, Love on the Spectrum, which premiered in 2022.

Abbey and David's relationship grew during the show's filming, and their flourishing romance became one of the central points of the inaugural season of Love on the Spectrum. They were seen having cute, cosy dates to Disneyland, Universal Studios, the L.A. Zoo, and Griffith Observatory and they quickly became a fan-favourite. The viewers considered the duo as the most authentic pair of the reality TV series and wanted them to stay together for a long time. However, that wasn't the case as Abbey and David's relationship turned sour within five years, leading to a breakup.

Abbey and David reportedly broke up because they could not agree on a timeline for marriage, according to reports from PEOPLE, The U.S. Sun and Page Six. An insider shared that Abbey was ready to get married "years ago," while David felt that he "still needed time". During Season 4 of the series, Abbey expressed her desire to walk down the aisle but also admitted a fear of divorce. The scepticism stemmed from her mother, Christine's divorce. Regarding that, Abbey said:
"I don't want to be a divorced lady like my mom, so that's why I don't want to rush it, take my time to get married."

According to Abbey, "neither one of us is ready to get married" and that they felt they were "already married in our hearts." However, she presented conflicting statements when, after learning of co-stars, Madison Marilla and Tyler White's engagement, she exclaimed, "Hopefully we're next!" According to her, she and David had discussed getting wed at the San Diego Zoo. She even told Buzzfeed in April 2025 that they wanted to "get married in Kenya, Maasai Mara [National Reserve]."
Despite the fears of getting divorced like her mom, Abbey desired to be a bride. Even her mother, Christine spoke about Abbey's marriage during their joint appearance on The Unplanned Podcast in March 2025. She opened up on how she envision a marriage for two individuals with Autism. Christine noted that their relationship post-wedding didn't necessarily need to be a traditional one; instead, they could love however they were comfortable. According to her, they could decide on the pace of the relationship and live together or separately, however they felt like. Her exact words were:
"It doesn't have to be in the traditional sense of what a neurotypical person would make it look like. You can have your place, he can still have his place. You can still do what you do until you're ready to move in together... so that they can make that commitment without having it to upheaval everything else."
