Abhijeet Bhattacharya Opens Up About His 17-Year-Old Rift With SRK, 'He Knows I Have Been Hurt'

Abhijeet Bhattacharya hasn't sung for SRK for over a decade. In a recent interview, the singer discussed his conflict with the superstar.

Abhijeet Bhattacharya is a popular Bollywood singer who has several chart-topping songs in the '90s and early 2000s. He has mostly sung career-defining songs for stars like Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Sunil Shetty, Saif Ali Khan, Govinda, Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn, Ranbir Kapoor, and Salman Khan, among others. Particularly, the singer sang so many songs for SRK, and It was over a decade that the singer didn't lend his voice to the actor for an alleged feud. He recently sat down for an interview with Pinkvilla, wherein he opened up about his rift with Shah Rukh Khan after 17 years.

Abhijeet says that he knows SRK well, and both of them have similar temperaments

After singing many successful songs for Shah Rukh Khan, Abhijeet stopped working with the actor after his film, Om Shanti Om. Several media reports alleged that Abhijeet was upset because he wasn't credited for the songs he sang in SRK's Main Hoon Na. After several years, Abhijeet spoke on the issue and shared that he knows Shah Rukh Khan and his temperament well. The singer added that SRK is well aware of his disappointment and its reason. He was quoted as saying:

"We both know what we're going to be. If I go to him today, I can tell him, as his senior by 6-7 years, Enough of the drama, you are a star and always will be. But if I come back into the picture, it will be me, not him. Sometimes, it feels like he is the type of person who shows off… or maybe he just doesn't have any time. But he isn't like that. I know myself very well, and I know him very well, too, even though we don't have a close bond. He knows that I have been hurt."

Abhijeet opened up about his feud with SRK in 2021

Despite several media reports, Abhijeet Bhattacharya or SRK had never officially acknowledged their rift for years. However, in 2021, Abhijeet Bhattacharya did a special Facebook Live. In the live show, one of his fans asked whether he would collaborate with the actor. Giving his reply, Abhijeet shared about their conflict.

Abhijeet reveals that a few music directors were responsible for ending his collaboration with SRK

Instead of speaking about the media reports speculating the cause of their conflict, Abhijeet gave a new insight into the issue. He shared that he never had any problem with Shah Rukh Khan. However, his work with Shah Rukh Khan ended due to a few music directors. He went on to add that there was a certain agenda of separating him and Shah Rukh. Abhijeet concluded his statement by saying that those same music directors who caused the rift are his friends because things end up like this in Bollywood. In his words:

"When I perform abroad, people who don't know that the songs are not sung by actors but by playback singers think that I sing like Shah Rukh Khan. They think SRK is a singer. I don't know who created this rift between me and him. There were a few music directors who had this agenda of separating us. Some used to think, 'If we get an SRK film someday, we won't let Abhijeet playback for him."

Abhijeet is ready to work with Salman Khan but only on one condition

Abhijeet Bhattacharya sang several hit songs for Salman Khan as well, like Chunnri Chunnri and Tan Tana Tan, among others. When asked if he would do a song for the bhaijaan of Bollywood, Abhijeet shared that he was willing to work with the Bodyguard star. However, he has a condition that a Pakistani artist shouldn't dub the song. For the unversed, Salman Khan had supported the working of Pakistani artists in India amid the tense relations between the two countries, and Abhijeet had criticised him for it.
