In the next two years, the power couple of B-town, Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan will be completing their golden jubilee and over the past five decades, they have been an inspiration proving that true love conquers all. Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan had their fair share of ups and downs but they not only made their marriage work, they also transformed it into a happy and successful one. In the world of entertainment, with the constant linkup rumours of celebrities, it becomes a challenge to not let the speculations affect their married and personal lives. Mr and Mrs Bachchan have amazingly sailed through that phase in their married life.
It was on June 3, 1973, when Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bhaduri had embarked on their journey of ‘happily ever after’ together and there has been no looking back since then. In 2020, the couple had completed 47 years of married life and to mark the special day, Big B had posted two pictures from their wedding, revealing how he had obeyed his father, Harivansh Rai Bachchan’s wish by marrying his Zanjeer co-star. Mr Bachchan had tweeted, "47 years… today.. June 3, 1973!! Had decided if 'Zanjeer' succeeded we, with few friends would go to London, first time, to celebrate... Father asked who you going with? When I told him who he said, you will marry her then go... else you don't go... I obeyed!"
Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan's contribution to the Indian cinema is remarkable and no words or awards would be enough to honour their worth in the lives of their fans. A few years ago, Big B was lauded at the Life Ok Awards for his phenomenal contribution to cinema and he had attended the award function with his wife, Jaya Bachchan and son, Abhishek Bachchan. After receiving the award, when he came back to his seat, his wife, who was sitting next to Abhishek, leaned forward to congratulate him. Abhishek, who was seated in between his parents, had given a kabab mein haddi reaction when Big B gave a sweet peck to Mrs Bachchan. It will leave you chuckling too.
It has been close to 48 years since Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bhaduri's marriage and we still can't get over the simplicity and love that their wedding pictures exude. On their every anniversary, we eagerly wait for Mr Bachchan to delight their fans with a glimpse from their wedding archive. A few months ago, we found a couple of unseen pictures of Mr and Mrs Bachchan's wedding on social media. The Bengali beauty had looked mesmerising in her red bridal ensemble while the handsome tall man had made our hearts skip a beat in a cream-coloured sherwani. Amitabh and Jaya in one frame are always a sight to behold, but with their wedding pictures, they had stolen our hearts like never!
Abhishek Bachchan is one of the coolest celebrities on Twitter because of his witty replies and the way he deals with the trolls in his chivalrous best. In 2018, Abhishek was targeted for living with his parents, Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan, in a random discussion on Twitter. When a Twitterati had written, “Don't feel bad about your life. Just remember @juniorbachchan still lives with his parents. Keep hustling everyone!” Abhishek had replied, “Yes! And it’s the proudest moment for me to be able to be there for them, as they have for me. Try it sometime, you might feel better about yourself.” When Aishwarya Rai Bachchan had dropped by on David Letterman’s talk show, she had commented about living with parents and had said, “It’s fine to live with your parents because it’s also common in India, we don’t have to take appointments from the parents to meet for dinner.”
During the promotions of Breathe: Into The Shadows, in an interview with the Hindustan Times, Abhishek Bachchan was asked what it feels like being a son of famous parents, Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan. He had retorted, “I’ve never thought about it. I’m the son of my father. At home, he’s that, he has never wanted it to be anything else, my mother never allowed it to be anything else. I’m the son of my father, I’m a colleague of a legend. That’s the way I look at it. He never brings his work home, never imposes, what I believe as a fan rightly should be, the fact he’s a living legend of cinema. At home, he’s my friend, somebody I can sit with, watch sports or movies, discuss politics and current affairs. I think it’s very important to understand that dynamic, which I understand is very difficult to comprehend when you’re not living that and viewing it as a third person. I’ve never looked upon it adversely. My love and respect for my parents are far too big for me to ever think to disrespect that emotion by thinking about it adversely.”
For the unversed, Abhishek Bachchan was born to Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan in 1976, three years after their married life began.
