Abhishek Bachchan Reveals Aishwarya Does All The Heavy-Lifting In Parenting, 'I've To Put A Caveat'

Abhishek Bachchan is married to Bollywood actress, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and they are proud parents to a beautiful daughter, Aaradhya Bachchan. Time and again, we have spotted Abhishek and Aishwarya, along with their princess, gracing various events. However, in most instances, Aishwarya is trolled for being overprotective of Aaradhya. But without paying any heed to them, the Bachchans keep living their lives happily ever after. Now, in a detailed interview, Abhishek opened up about his and Aishwarya's parenting style, and also revealed his take on the same, which is simply unmissable.

Abhishek Bachchan shares parenting tips

In an interview with the Hindustan Times, Abhishek Bachchan, the father of a teenager, was asked to share parenting tips on how to deal with rebellious teens. To this, Abhishek mentioned that since today's kids are already well-informed, the parents must not try but rather just deal with the little ones. Talking about how he feels this new generation doesn't have a sense of hierarchy with which he has grown up, he asked every parent just to be patient with their kids' questions. Abhishek said:

“The thing is do not try and deal with it. That is life. Every subsequent generation matures faster. Maybe, when we were kids, our parents thought we were too fast for them. This generation has been born in a world where they have not seen the process it took us to reach where we have reached. I do not think the new generation has a sense of hierarchy. That was something we were brought up with. They are inquisitive… they are like ‘Why? Why should I just listen to you because you are my mother?’ They are far more informed, they are born into this era of information and technology. (So my advice is just) answer their questions."

Abhishek on questioning his sister, Shweta for providing mobile phones to her kids at 10

Abhishek also gave a few examples to validate his thoughts. The actor explained that when he once asked his sister, Shweta Bachchan, why she had given mobile phones to her kids, Navya and Agastya at the mere age of 10, the latter gave a witty answer to him. Moreover, Abhishek explained why today's kids would not be as amused to see the Taj Mahal the way he was. He added:

"I will give you a very simple analogy. I have a nephew and a niece and they were given a mobile phone when they turned 10. My sister told me ‘do you think he got upset, you got a mobile phone at 22?' This new generation is better informed. I remember I found it breathtaking when I first saw the Taj Mahal, but I do not think the current generation will be overawed (by the Taj Mahal) because they have seen it on the internet. They are not preposterous, they are just far better informed. So, their wonderment is not at the level that ours was."

Abhishek revealed that Aishwarya does the heavy lifting and allows him to go and work

Further, Abhishek revealed that his wife, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan does all the heavy lifting while parenting their daughter, Aaradhya. On the other hand, the loving husband and the doting father mentioned that amongst him and Aishwarya, he is allowed to 'go and do' his work. Abhishek shared:

“I have to put a caveat here - I do not do the heavy lifting at home. That is entirely done by my wife. She allows me to go and do my work.”

Abhishek's top parenting tip included an iPad

At the end of the conversation, Abhishek mentioned that parents must respect their children's dignity. He explained how reprimanding is extremely important in a child's upbringing, and thus, a parent must always maintain proper dignity, too. Then, jokingly, Abhishek asked the parents to provide an iPad to their kids and concluded:

“The only parenting tip I can give anybody is never compromise on your child's dignity. Sometimes, we feel like reprimanding them because that is how we were brought up. That is how we were reprimanded and disciplined as children, but this generation is far more sensitive. Maybe because they have not seen the upheavals our parents or grandparents saw…If you compromise their dignity while reprimanding, they are just going to switch off to you. Basically, in a nutshell, you can't do anything. Just give them an iPad and (waves) bye.”
