Abhishek Bachchan is basking in the glory of his latest offering, I Want To Talk. The film, directed by Shoojit Sircar, has earned the actor a lot of praise and has been called the star's best performance. Abhishek is often compared to his legendary father, Amitabh Bachchan. He recently opened up about how his mom, Jaya Bachchan, felt when she was told about the former's resemblance to his father
In a recent interview with Bollywood Hungama, Abhishek Bachchan expressed his gratitude to Shoojit Sircar. This is because the director said the actor stole hearts in I Want To Talk, and he could see a lot of Jayaji in his performance. Her warmth and charm in the character of 'Arjun Sen' was seen in the movie. Shoojit also remembered Jayaji in a Satyajit Ray film, standing near a wall and staring. Reacting to the same, Abhishek remembered how he had always been compared to his dad. In his words:
"Throughout my career of 25 years, there has been such huge reference to my father and his amazing work, but very few attribute anything to my beautiful mother. I am glad Shoojit Da did, she will be very happy. She keeps saying, 'You're my son too'. But ya, I am not worthy of being spoken about in the same sentence as these great actors."
I Want To Talk, which is in theatres, shows the life of 'Arjun Sen', played by Abhishek. He is a real-life marketing genius and also survives cancer. Interestingly, Abhishek's performance was compared to Amitabh's role in Deepika Padukone starrer, Piku. Shoojit drew parallelism and compared Junior Bachchan with Irrfan and Jaya. In an interview with ETimes, Abhishek, too, had agreed to be more like his mom than his father. He even credited Jaya for inspiring his style statement.
In an earlier interview with Bollywood Bubble, Abhishek revealed it would have been awkward for him to complain about anything because he isn't entitled. He mentioned having a completely normal middle-class upbringing and also credited his mom, Jaya for the same. When he entered the movie industry, he realised one can achieve success on one's merit and not based on family background or spouse. In his words:
"I haven't been brought up like that. And the credit of that has to go to my mother where home was 'home'. When my father came back home from work, he wasn't this legendary iconic superstar, he was 'dad'. The atmosphere was normal. And then, when I came to the film industry I realised that you will only achieve on your own merit. It's not going to help you who your parents are, or whom you are married to."
Abhishek has been experienced in his roles. In 2023, he was lauded for his performance in Ghoomer, while in 2022, he was appreciated for his role in the OTT movie Dasvi. Abhishek has always been a versatile actor.
