Aditya Chopra was the visionary leader behind Dhoom 2, and he made sure to bring out the best from within his actors. For Dhoom 2, he wanted his cast to look fit, and for the same, he asked Aishwarya Rai to lose 5 kilos in under 10 days. For the unversed, prior to Dhoom 2, Aishwarya shot for Mani Ratnam's Guru, and therein, she put on a few kilos.
Aditya Chopra wanted Aiswarya as the main lead of the film, to look a certain way. However, setting a goal to lose that many kilos in such a short time seemed unrealistic to many. Sharing their views on Reddit, one user wrote, "buddy Aditya, 10 din me 5 kg ka claim toh naaptol par slim-sauna belt wale bhi nhi karte." Another user penned, "Someone should give him similar goals and see where he lands!"

In an old interview with Daily Mail, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan opened up about her first on-screen kissing scene with Hrithik Roshan in the film, Dhoom 2. Spilling beans on the same, Aishwarya made a shocking revelation and said that she received legal notices for her kissing scene, as her fans weren't happy about it. She said:
“I did it once prominently in the movie Dhoom and it was so topical, and you’ll be surprised, I mean I actually got a couple of notices, legal notices, from some people in the country turning around and saying ‘You are iconic, you’re an example to our girls you have led your life in such an exemplary manner, they’re not comfortable with you doing this on screen so why did you?”
Further, Aishwarya Rai revealed that she had never done kissing scenes in films and even declined a few scripts as she was not comfortable with the physical scenes and the kissing. However, she still gave it a shot in Dhoom 2, despite being sure that her audience wouldn't like it. When the movie was released, Aish was criticised for her on-screen kissing.
