Diljit Dosanjh has made a name for himself not only because of his vocal prowess but also due to his acting stint in various Punjabi and Hindi films. He debuted in Bollywood with the 2016 crime thriller, Udta Punjab, alongside Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan. More recently, he was seen in the female-led film, Crew and also in Imtiaz Ali’s film, Amar Singh Chamkila, which garnered much appreciation from the audience.

Diljit Dosanjh shares a special video from his concert held in Mumbai

After the release of his film based on the Punjabi singer, Amar Singh Chamkila, on Netflix, Diljit Dosanjh performed in Mumbai on April 13, 2024. The singer’s concert was attended by the who’s who of Bollywood, including Varun Dhawan, Ayushmann Khurana, Tamannaah Bhatia, Vijay Varma, Rajkummar Rao and Taapsee Pannu, among others. Diljit’s concert turned out to be spectacular and the singer even shared some memorable moments from the same on his social media account.

Diljit Dosanjh talks about breaking stereotypes 

On April 14, 2024, the Punjabi singer shared a clip from his Mumbai concert where he was seen interacting with the concert-goers from the stage. In the video, Diljit talked about breaking stereotypes surrounding Punjabis. He mentioned that Punjabis are not considered fashionable by the general public, but he proved otherwise. He also announced his upcoming North American tour, Dil-Luminati, which will begin on April 27, 2024. Further talking about how he broke such stereotypes, Diljit said:

“They said Punjabis aren’t fashionable and I said, I will show you. They said Punjabis can’t act in films, I showed them I could. They said Punjabis can’t go to Mumbai, and I proved them wrong. They said Punjabis can’t sell tickets for the bar arena, I had the stadium packed at my concert. They said Punjabis can’t do Illuminati, I said, I will do ‘Dil-Luminati.”

Diljit’s fans hail his statement about breaking stereotypes

Diljit’s fans are going gaga over his video, and they cannot stop praising the Punjabi singer for his words. One user said, “This feels so personal. You are an inspiration for a whole generation.” Another one wrote, “Just Diljit doing iconic things every moment.” A third user mentioned, “You proved it Dosanjahwaleya.”

When Diljit Dosanjh talked about Bollywood not portraying Sikhs properly

Previously, during an interview with Anubhav Singh Bassi on Netflix India’s YouTube channel, Diljit Dosanjh talked about how Bollywood misrepresents Punjabi actors. When the host heaped praises on Diljit for his dress sense and swag, the singer said that he isn’t fond of clothes or swag, but he wanted to show Bollywood stylists how Punjabi people wear clothes. In his words:

“To be honest, I am not fond of clothes or swag. When we were in Punjab, the Bollywood films made at the time… they didn’t show Sikhs properly. So, I decided that when I do Bollywood films, I’ll dress better than all Bollywood stylists. I know fashion. Because Punjab has a direct connection with mainstream fashion with no barriers between.”
