Akshay Kumar and Salman Khan are two big names in Bollywood who have entertained audiences for nearly three decades now. They have continued to maintain their stardom and speak fondly about each other in interviews. Recently, on January 19, 2025, Akshay Kumar visited the set of Salman Khan's show, Bigg Boss 18, and left without shooting with the actor, creating a stir. Amid this, the Safira actor, in a new interview, recalled his experience working with Salman Khan.
Akshay Kumar and Salman Khan share a cordial bond but have only worked together a few times. Among other projects, their most successful film together is Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, which is still remembered by fans. Akshay, who sat down for an interview with Pinkvilla, recently recalled the funny experience of wearing grass skirts with Salman Khan for the film's title track.
Sharing some interesting behind-the-scenes anecdotes, Akshay revealed that the film's title track was shot in Mauritius. During one of the frames in their song, they were expected to wear those unique skirts. The actor admitted that he wasn't too keen to wear them, and Salman Khan reacted unexpectedly. Recalling the incident, Akshay said:
"This was shot in Mauritius, and Farah Khan was the choreographer. Jab humko kaha gaya tha yeh pehen ke aana hai toh Salman bahut khush tha, mai nahi itna khush tha.”
Despite being unhappy over wearing skirts made from grass, Akshay admitted that he had a lot of fun working with Salman Khan in that scene and the whole film. He explained that both used to tease each other and had a great time together. The actor described how they both decided on the choreography in those skirts. He explained:
"So this choreography, I think hum dono ne khud hi baith ke aise hi kar li thi. So I hit him with my hip, and then he hit me with his chest and this and that. It was fun."
Akshay Kumar's work ethic is well-known in Bollywood, and everyone knows he prefers to work early in the morning. On the other hand, Salman Khan prefers to shoot late in the day till night. Despite this, the Khiladi actor mentioned in the same interview that they shot the film fast and in just 32 days. He shared that he used to shoot around 7 am, and Salman joined at 11 am. They used to shoot their scenes together after his arrival, and Akshay used to leave. Later, the Dabangg actor continued to shoot until late at night. Later, when he asked if he has a new plan to work with Salman in a two-hero film like Mujhse Shaadi Karogi's sequel, Akshay gave a straightforward reply and said:

Akshay Kumar had reached the Bigg Boss 18 set to promote his film on the show's grand finale with Salman Khan but left without it. A report by Hindustan Times revealed that the actor reached the shoot on time, but the Tiger 3 actor was one hour late. So, the Sky Force actor left due to his other work commitments. This news created a storm among the fans and on social media. Later, Akshay clarified in a media interaction that Salman wasn't late. Rather, he had to go somewhere, and the latter had some personal work, so he discussed it with Salman on the phone and left.
