After Vishal Dadlani, Antara Mitra Slams Jasleen Royal's Performance, 'Numbers Game Not Music...'

Playback singer, Antara Mitra has captivated fans with her melodious voice in songs like Kudmayi, Kesariya (Dance Mix), and Jaaneman Aah. The versatile singer first gained recognition for her duets alongside Arijit Singh on the popular tracks Gerua and Janam Janam. The ease with which Antara is able to adapt to different genres makes it clear that music is very dear to her, be it her performing or anyone else. As such, she recently slammed Jasleen Royal, who opened for Coldplay's Mumbai concert. Antara is the second artist to call out Jasleen, as Vishal Dadlani had previously taken a dig at her in an Instagram story, which he later deleted.

Antara Mitra calls out Jasleen Royal bad performance at the Coldplay concert via an Instagram story

Antara Mitra took to her Instagram story on January 23, 2025, to call out Jasleen Royal's abysmal performance at the Coldplay concert in Mumbai. For the unversed, Jasleen was the opening act for the concert and even had an opportunity to sing with the band's frontman, Chris Martin. However, her less-than-stellar performance has netizens brutally trolling her.

Not only that, some celebs are also calling out her horrible performance, and the latest to do so was Antara Mitra, who is a playback singer herself. Antara penned a blunt note on her Instagram story that read:

"The brightest idea was this representation of Indian music scene for Coldplay. I am shamelessly calling this out! Because someone from the same field should! I have an iron gut so I am doing it! Please all you biggies out there taking decisions of this level! My only request is please put music on top and then your numbers game."

When Vishal Dadlani slammed Jasleen Royal's performance and then deleted his story

Vishal Dadlani took to his Instagram handle in the late hours of January 21, 2025, with a cryptic story lashing out at a "basic-to-bad singer" whom he did not name. Talking about how the artist's performance was embarrassing for themselves, the public, the entire country, and 'the scene,' Vishal penned:

"I'm really sorry, but when you put a basic-to-bad singer in front of a large crowd on a large stage, all you're doing is showing more people that the individual can't really sing, and that sadly, systems within labels in India aren't geared towards really promoting the best we have. I've just seen some clips, and my gosh… How embarrassing! For the Country, the artiste, the public, as well as "the scene."

While Vishal has deleted the story since then, netizens were quick to deduce that he could be referring to Jasleen Royal, who recently opened for Coldplay in Mumbai. For the spectacular show, Jasleen performed her soulful song, Kho Gaye Hum Kahan. However, her performance of We Pray with Coldplay frontman, Chris Martin, was the most iconic moment.

Netizens agree with Antara Mitra and Vishal Dadlani's analysis of Jasleen Royal's performance

Just like they did with Vishal Dadlani, netizens sided with Antara Mitra after her critique of Jasleen Royal's performance. One user penned, "I saw some clips and she really can't sing. The audience deserves better," while another wrote, "Antara Mitra is such an underutilized singer. I wish she had gotten better opportunities." Yet another netizen commented, "I thought everyone was exaggerating until I saw those clips and she sang so terribly. Even the audience's pitch was better than hers. It was truly embarrassing to watch her perform."
