Air India Crash, 22-Year-Old Cabin Crew's Father Collapses In Morgue, Mom Cried, 'You're Lying...'

The tragic crash of Air India AI171 has tested the strength of the strongest families. The ill-fated flight resulted in the demise of 241 onboard deaths and several other trainee doctors after the plane crashed on the roof of their mess. While the country has united in mourning the passing of over 265 victims, the cries of the cabin crew and Irrfan's parents have left our hearts wounded.

22-Year-Old cabin crew, Irfan passed away in the tragic crash 

The crash of AI171 on June 12, 2025, took the lives of several children, parents, siblings and friends. The entire country has been cast in the shadow of the pain the families must be feeling as they process the immense loss. Amid that, another unfortunate story has come forward, which carries the cries of a father and the denial of a mother who will never get to see their son again. 

Irfan Samir Shaikh was 22 years old when the tragedy took him away from his family. The young cabin crew member had joined the aviation industry two years ago after completing his course. He had extremely big dreams for his future and was excited about the international trips his job took him on. He had joined Air India after its merger with Vistara. However, what he didn't know was that this journey would become his last.

According to reports, Irfan was extremely proud of his uniform and had informed his family about his journey to London. He had even talked to his mother earlier on June 12, 2025. However, the next time his parents got to see him was in a morgue. As soon as Irfan's father saw his son's body, he lost his composure and collapsed against a wall, his voice raw and unsure of what his son did to deserve such a death. Between tears, he stated:

"I have been religious my whole life, I gave to charity, I taught my son character…Why this punishment upon him? Why my child?"

Irfan's mother was left completely shattered by the reality and refused to believe her son was no longer with them. She screamed in denial at anyone who came near, stressing that her son had promised her that he would see her when he came back. The tender heart of the mother denied that the lifeless body in front of her was of her son and stated:

"He promised he would see me when he got back. You’re lying. It’s not him."

What happened to the Air India flight on June 12, 2025?

The incident took place at around 1:30 pm on June 12, 2025, less than a minute after the flight had taken off from Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport to Gatwick Airport in London. However, within seconds of its take-off, the flight lost control descending from a height of 625 feet. The pilot sent a May Day call. However, it was too late, and before the station could respond, the flight had already collapsed on the roof of a medical college hostel. Former CM of Gujarat, Vijay Rupani also lost his life in the tragic crash.
