For the past few months, there has been constant buzz around Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan’s marital life as multiple reports suggest that there is trouble in their paradise. It is reported that Aishwarya and Abhishek are heading for divorce, and all is not well between the couple and their respective families.
There are multiple reasons that have been reported as the reason for the couple’s split, and one of them is Aishwarya’s equation with the Bachchans. Yes, it is speculated that Aishwarya doesn’t share a cordial bond with her nanad, Shweta Bachchan. However, Aishwarya shares an adorable bond with her own bhabhi, Shrima Rai. For the unversed, Shrima Rai is Aishwarya’s brother, Aditya Rai’s wife. Just like her nanad, Aishwarya, Shrima is also a former beauty queen and is currently a digital content creator. Let us look at Aishwarya and Shrima’s bond.
Shrima Rai is an avid social media user, and she often takes to her Instagram to share pictures of her husband, Aditya Rai and their sons, Shivansh Rai and Vihaan Rai. During an 'Ask Me Anything' session on Instagram in 2018, Shrima was asked how she had told her kids about their bua, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's stardom. To which, Shrima replied:
"That is never a topic in my house. She is Gulu Maami at home."
In a throwback interview, Shrima talked about her bond with her nanad, Aishwarya. Stating how she never saw Aishwarya as a star, Shrima shared:
“I don’t see Ash as a superstar. She’s firstly my sister-in-law. But we don’t get to see Ash and Abhishek often. When she drops by, I’m usually at work. Abhishek is a fun guy to be with."
It was on Raksha Bandhan 2019, when Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s sister-in-law, Shrima Rai posted beautiful pictures of their family’s celebration. In the pictures, Aishwarya and Aaradhya were decked up in traditional attires and tied rakhi on their respective brothers’ wrists.

When Aishwarya’s brother, Aditya Rai and sister-in-law, Shrima Rai hosted their youngest son, Shivansh’s birthday, an array of pictures posted went viral. In the glimpses posted by the shutterbugs and the official Instagram page of the venue had Aishwarya, Aaradhya, Aditya, Shrima, and their two sons happily pose for the camera. It also had a picture of Aishwarya feeding cake to her nephew.
Though we get to see glimpses of the Bachchan family, rarely do we get a chance to witness the Bachchan clan and the Rai family together. Some years ago, pictures from Aishwarya Rai’s sister-in-law, Shrima Rai’s godh bharai pictures went viral, and we spotted the two families together.
The rare unseen picture has Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Krishnaraj Rai, Brindya Rai, Abhishek Bachchan, Aditya Rai, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Shrima Rai in the frame, posing happily for a family portrait. The entire family had dressed in traditional attires as they had come together to shower love and blessings on then-mom-to-be, Shrima.

It was years ago when Shrima had met Aishwarya's brother, Aditya Rai at a dinner party where their families had played the role of Cupid. After they got to know each other and had a year-long engagement, Aditya and Shrima became husband and wife in a traditional marriage ceremony.
Born in Mangalore, India, Shrima was raised in Philadelphia, USA, and it was after her marriage to Aditya that she settled in Mumbai with him. Shrima gave up her lucrative banking job to become a digital media influencer. The couple has two sons, Shivansh Rai and Vihaan Rai.
Shrima Rai is an avid social media user with 112K followers. In a throwback interview with The Asian Age, Shrima talked about creating her own identity apart from being known as Aishwarya Rai’s sister-in-law. Talking about the same, she stated:
“I do get respect for having done it on my own. I believe that the brand or public is not going to merely accept me because I am someone’s sister-in-law. Finally, for a blogger, it’s the content that matter. I rarely even post images from our family gatherings. I post an odd image of Aradhya (Aishwarya’s daughter) during Raksha Bandhan or an insta story that changes in 24 hours.”
