Aishwarya Rai Once Talked About Her Ideal Man Before Marrying Abhishek, 'I Dig Dignity, No Flirting'

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is the epitome of beauty and grace. While the entire nation was head over heels in love with her, the actress started her forever journey with actor, Abhishek Bachchan. The duo tied the knot on April 20, 2007, and they are proud parents of their baby girl, Aaradhya Bachchan. Once, in an old interview, way before she married Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai opened up about the qualities she wanted in her ideal man. In an interview with Rediff, she had said that her man should be madly in love with her as she is a total romantic at heart. She also emphasised the importance of dignity and said:

“My ideal man should be madly in love with me because I won’t have it any other way. I am a total romantic at heart, so naturally, my ideal mate better be well versed in the art of romance. Not flirting, but romance. And there is quite a difference. I dig dignity. It is rare and priceless in a world that’s so taken over by images and put-ons.”

Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai’s love blossomed on the sets of Umrao Jaan. But way before that Abhishek was smitten by Aishwarya’s beauty when he met her for the first time in Switzerland, where he went for the recce of a film. Aishwarya was shooting there with Bobby Deol for her Bollywood debut film, Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya. After spending time with each other during the shooting of Umrao Jaan, Guru and Dhoom 2, the duo started developing feelings for each other. During the premiere of Guru, the handsome Abhishek proposed to Aishwarya, and she said yes.

For some time now, reports have been rife that Aishwarya Rai's wedding outfit, designed by Neeta Lulla, was worth Rs. 75 lakh. However, in an old interview with Bollywood Hungama, Neeta cleared the air around the same and stated that these are nothing but 'afwaah'. She further added that Aishwarya donned a minimalistic Kanjeevaram saree, which can't cost a crore or 75 lakh. Neeta stated that Aishwarya's basic saree was complemented by a well-cut, well-fitted embroidered zardozi blouse and requested people not to count the cost of her temple jewellery.

The diva made her acting debut with the Tamil film, Iruvar. For the unversed, Aishwarya's first Hindi film was Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya.
