Television actress and dancer, Aishwarya Sharma earned massive popularity after she and her husband, Neil Bhatt, participated in the 17th season of the controversial reality show, Bigg Boss. The actress, best known for her work in shows like Ghum Hai Kisi Ke Pyaar Mein and Baal Krishna, has taken a short break from acting. However, given the rapidly changing dynamics of the industry, the pressure of staying relevant does not go away.
In a candid interview with ETimes, Aishwarya bared her heart about her fitness journey, her perspective on life and the nagging pressure of choosing the right project. When asked whether she worries about the constant pressure of staying relevant in the current times, the actress acknowledged the essence of it and said:
"I’d be lying if I said I don’t feel that pressure. When people believe in you and invest their time and energy into you, it’s natural to feel a sense of responsibility. But I’ve also realised that constantly chasing relevance is exhausting. So now I try to focus on creating meaningful work, even if it means taking a beat. I trust that the people who really connect with me will stay, and that’s enough. And ‘kuch toh log kahenge, logon ka kaam hai kehna’.. we have to move forward, that’s it.”
Aishwarya believes in focusing on meaningful work rather than randomly choosing scripts for her work. And in achieving this, she largely relies on her instinct, her ‘inner compass’. When she resumes acting, she wants to try out some completely different roles than those she has played before. The diva is not scared of challenges and wants to take on roles that expand her emotional compass and also improve her acting prowess. She was quoted as saying;
"I go by instinct a lot. I think we all have a kind of inner compass if we’re willing to listen to it. For me, it’s not about climbing a graph. It’s about expanding my range. I want to surprise people but also surprise myself. Right now, I’m drawn to roles that scare me a little. The kind that forces me to grow, emotionally or technically. That’s the kind of work I want to chase next.”
Aishwarya isn't afraid of confrontation, and she believes in staying true to herself. She is not someone who will play safe just to please everyone, and she will draw the line where needed. No matter where life takes her in the future, the actress has one priority: choosing honesty over neutrality. In her words:
"I do believe in honesty, but there’s a way to say things. I’ve learned that being real doesn’t mean being reckless. People often mistake honesty for confrontation, and it’s not that. I just don’t believe in playing safe for the sake of pleasing everyone. That said, I’m always learning where to draw the line. And if I am not wrong, then why should I be scared of anyone? I’d rather be remembered for being honest than for being neutral.”
Aishwarya Sharma’s television career began with a brief appearance in Colors TV’s Code Red. However, she got a full-time role when she played ‘Jamvanthi’ in the serial, Sankat Mochan Mahabali Hanuman. Aishwarya is best known for her portrayal of ‘Pakhi’ in Ghum Hai Kisi Ke Pyaar Mein. The actress was last seen in Bigg Boss 17.
