Rajinikanth's daughter, Aishwaryaa Rajinikanth recently released her film, Lal Salaam, and received a lot of appreciation for her work. On the personal front, she was married to Dhanush for almost two decades, but in January 2022, they announced their separation on social media. Aishwaryaa and Dhanush kept the reason for their separation a secret and refrained from talking about each other. However, over two years after their split, Aishwaryaa spoke about Dhanush for the first time.
In a recent interview, Aishwaryaa Rajinikanth made a rare comment about her ex-husband, Dhanush. Aishwaryaa was asked about giving Anirudh Ravichander a platform to make his music debut with the film, 3, which starred Dhanush and Shruti Haasan in the lead. For the unversed, Anirudh composed the viral track, Why This Kolaveri Di, among other hit songs. Responding to the same, Aishwaryaa shared that the credit to kickstarting Anirudh’s music career goes to Dhanush and said:
“I am happy that he has become one of the most sought-after music directors. However, his entry into the film industry has no connection with me. He is my cousin but his musical talents were recognised by Dhanush. He encouraged him to compose the songs of 3. His entry into the cinema industry was fully because of Dhanush.”

Speaking along the same lines, Aishwaryaa also revealed that Anirudh's parents had a different plan for him and they wanted him to move to Singapore and pursue higher studies. However, Dhanush convinced Anirudh's parents to let him explore his musical talents and help him flourish in his musical career. Aishwaryaa said:
“Anirudh’s parents originally wanted him to move to Singapore and pursue higher studies. Dhanush convinced Anirudh’s parents to let him explore his musical talents. From buying him a keyboard to pushing for him to compose the songs of 3, the credit goes to Dhanush. Anirudh’s entry into the industry is because of Dhanush. But today, where he has reached is because of his hard work. And I am happy for him.”
For the unversed, it was on January 18, 2022, when Dhanush and Aishwaryaa had announced their separation. The duo had taken to their respective social media handles and shared a long note. Expressing their feelings in their separation note and asking people to give them privacy to deal with this, they penned:
"18 years of togetherness as friends, couple, as parents and well-wishers to each other. The journey has been of growth, understanding, adjusting and adapting... Today we stand at a place where our paths separate... Aishwaryaa and I have decided to part ways as a couple and take time to understand us as individuals for the better. Please do Respect our decision and give us the needed privacy to deal with this."

Lately, rumours have been rife that Aishwaryaa and Dhanush have decided to give their relationship another chance. However, a report in the Hindustan Times revealed that the duo is not going to reconcile as they have moved on in their lives. Dhanush and Aishwaryaa have accepted their fate and are living separately, but they have not yet filed for a divorce. According to the report, the source revealed that they would only file for a divorce when either one of them wants to re-marry. They have mutual respect for one another and are busy co-parenting their sons, Yatra and Linga, so they don't feel any void in their lives.
