Ajith Kumar Shares Heartfelt Moment With Wife Shalini Before Receiving His Padma Bhushan Award

Ajith marked his presence in the award ceremony along with his family. On April 28, 2025, the event took place at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi. Before receiving the prestigious award from the president of India, Droupadi Murmu, the media caught Ajith and Shalini, who were having a heartfelt moment. The power couple, Shalini and Ajith Kumar, were seen having a romantic moment just before the award ceremony began. The ‘IT’ couple of Kollywood was seen doing some dance moves while lost in each other's eyes. The couple also had some last moments of private chit-chat.

Ajith Kumar expressed gratitude for such a prestigious honour

The announcement of Tamil actor, Ajith Kumar to be honoured with the prestigious Padma Bhushan Award was made on January 25, 2025. In a heartfelt note shared through his publicist, Ajith extends gratitude for such recognition. He also expressed gratitude to every senior from the film industry and also his peers. In an elaborate note, Ajith shared:

“I am deeply humbled and honoured to receive the esteemed Padma Award by the President of India. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the Hon'ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu and the Honourable Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi for this prestigious honour. It is a privilege to be recognised at such a level and I am truly grateful for this generous acknowledgment of my contributions to our nation. At the same time, I am mindful that this recognition is not just a personal accolade but a testament to the collective efforts and support of many.”

Ajith Kumar tied the knot with former actress, Shalini on April 24, 2000. It was an inter-faith marriage as Ajith belonged to a Hindu Brahmin family, and Shalini was a Protestant Christian. The duo are now parents to two beautiful children, one daughter, Anoushka and a son, Aadvik. But little do people know, how the love story between the power couple started. Ajith once revealed about how his love story with Shalini began, in a promotional event of his then-upcoming film, Billa. For the uninitiated, Ajith met Shalini on the set of the film, Amarkalam. It was a 'love at first sight' moment for him, as he was mesmerised by Shalini's beauty and grace. Ajith Kumar further revealed that he accidentally cut Shalini's wrist while they were filming a scene, but the duo were completely unaware of it. After realising there was a cut on Shalini’s wrist, the actress was admitted to the hospital immediately. Ajith took utmost actress of the actress, and this concern melted Shalini's heart. Soon after this incident, the ‘IT’ couple of Kollywood started dating.
