Akshay Kumar is known for his memorable roles in comedy and action films. He led the pack in Priyadarshan's horror comedy movie, Bhool Bhulaiyaa where he played the role of a psychiatrist who was responsible for finding the real ghost of the palace. 'Khiladi Kumar' has always been known for his action and comedy movies. However, fans missed Akshay in both the sequels of Bhool Bhulaiyaa. They missed his look in a red and orange sadhu outfit, carrying two bags, chasing people down enough to make them laugh. Now, the actor revealed why he was not seen in the sequels of the movie.

Akshay Kumar addresses why he was absent from Bhool Bhulaiyaa sequels

Akshay addressed the reason for departing from the franchise of Bhool Bhulaiyaa. His memorable role as 'Dr Adi Srivastav' in the film won the hearts of the fans. Recently, Pinkvilla interviewed the actor where a fan mentioned that he did not watch Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and 3 as Akshay was not there and enquired about his absence. In return, Akshay replied:

“Beta, mujhey nikaal diya tha.That’s it.”

Kartik Aaryan on replacing Akshay Kumar in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and 3

Kartik Aaryan had played 'Rooh Baba' and replaced Akshay in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and 3. Both the movies raked at the box office; however, fans were missing Akshay as he added humour to the film that revolved subtly around the concept of taboos associated with mental health. The psychological comedy drama's sequels saw a change in narratives according to the genre. In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, the actor opened up on replacing Akshay. He revealed:

"I have always been a huge fan of Akshay. I don't see myself on the same level as him. I've watched him since I was a child, so it feels a bit strange to be compared to him."

When Bhool Bhulaiyaa director, Priyadarshan revealed how the Hindi film got more love than the Malyalam movie

Bhool Bhulaiyaa movie was known for its lavish sets, giving fans a royal feeling of Rajasthan. Priyadarshan, in an interview with Rediff, had shared that the Hindi movie was better style-wise. In his words:

"In Malayalam, we did not have the budget to shoot in such grandeur. In Hindi, we had. I could use all possible technical advantages the film needed."

Akshay Kumar on Hera Pheri 3 update

Akshay, after revealing why he could not do Bhool Bhulaiyaa sequels, also gave an update on his highly awaited movie, Hera Pheri 3. He shared that even he was waiting to start Hera Pheri 3. If everything went well then he would start shooting in 2025. Akshay added:

"When we started Hera Pheri, we didn’t know it would go ahead to become such a cult. Even when I saw the film, I didn’t understand. Yes, it was funny, but none of us expected the characters of Babu Bhaiya, Raju, and Shyam to become a cult.”

Akshay also heaped praises on his co-actor, Paresh Rawal and said he was a funny person in real. Akshay also remembered how, during the Hera Pheri shooting, they had lots of fun, but some things couldn’t be said on camera. The actor is now shooting with the veteran actor for Bhoot Bangla.
