Hera Pheri 3 was meant to be a nostalgic comeback of an iconic Bollywood film, but it has now turned into a major controversy. As fans were excited about the return of 'Raju', 'Shyam' and 'Baburao', the film has found itself in hot water after an alleged fallout between the lead actors, Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal, by latter's sudden exit from the project. The issue is regularly making headlines as Akshay's production house, which is producing the film, filed a lawsuit seeking compensation of Rs. 25 crore over the losses caused to them. While Akshay or Paresh have not come out in public to address the matter, recently, Akshay was spotted in public for the first time after the matter started.
Akshay Kumar recently made his first public appearance in Delhi on May 24, 2025, amid the Hera Pheri 3 controversy. The Kesari Chapter 2 actor was spotted at the Delhi airport, where he seemed unfazed over the ongoing row. He was dressed in a casual striped light-blue-hued t-shirt paired with denim jeans and aviator sunglasses as he exited the terminal in a relaxed mood.
Akshay didn't acknowledge the presence of the paparazzi, and neither posed for the photographers. At the same time, he answered no questions but warmly greeted the fans. He was seen directly making his way out while browsing through his phone. For those unaware, the actor will soon begin the promotions for his upcoming film, Housefull 5, which is set to release on June 6, 2025.

When the legal counsel of Akshay Kumar's production house filed a lawsuit seeking compensation for their losses, they revealed that Paresh Rawal had taken a signing amount of Rs. 11 lakh and shot a promo with a few minutes from the film itself. In turn, a recent media report by Bollywood Hungama shared that Paresh has returned the signing amount with a 15 percent interest to makers and was he was originally signed for Rs. 15 crore. At the same time, a source close to the actor mentioned to IANS that the shoot for the film hadn't begun. In it's words:
"Calling someone like Paresh Rawal, a stalwart with four decades of iconic work, 'unprofessional' is not just unfair, it's laughable. Let's be clear: the film hadn't even started. There was a promo shoot, not a film schedule. The real shoot is planned for sometime next year. So, the idea that he 'walked out' is just the worst theatrical imagination at best."
After a long way of two decades and multiple delays, Akshay Kumar acquired the franchise rights of Hera Pheri 3 after the old team of the film agreed to work on it. However, Paresh Rawal's sudden exit has left things in uncertainty. Priyadarshan who helmed the original film and was set to direct the upcoming instalment shared with Mid-day that just days before the actor's exit, they had shot a scene and a teaser to play during the IPL. So, Akshay was in tears after the Tiger Zinda Hai actor announced his exit. In Priyadarshan's words:

"Akshay had tears in his eyes when he asked me, 'Priyan, why is Paresh doing this to us?' Akshay shouldn't suffer financial losses because Paresh walked out on a whim. I understand that he will have to take whatever action is required."
