Bollywood megastar, Akshay Kumar, has again been touted for controversy after a clip from his upcoming movie, Kannappa, went viral on social media. Akshay, as seen in the clip, is playing the role of the Hindu god, Lord Shiva and is seen giving a power-packed dialogue. He has found himself minting controversy as his monologue delivery was slammed, after fans alleged that the actor used a teleprompter.
Eagled-eyed fans of the actor were quick to see the part of Akshay in Kannappa, where his eyes were seen moving from left to right in a very unnatural way. Netizens were quick to note that he was saying the mythologically based dialogue as Lord Shiva from a teleprompter, which was placed right in front of him. The clip went viral on X, and one user commented, "He is struggling and trying to act, let him do it. Why do people make fun of struggling people? 35+ years in the industry, still struggling?"
Another angry user, seeing the video, commented, "So basically, nowadays, teleprompter deserves Filmfare nominations." A third user even wrote, "I don't know why makers keep casting him instead of so many flops recently. There is zero cinematic value in his recent movies. Bro is just doing films to make money, nothing else. No clue what Akki's doing anymore. When you wrap a film in 40 days, disaster’s bound to follow. He's constantly lowering his own bar. These days, an Akki movie feels like junk even before release. Good work demands time and patience—not rushed mediocrity."
Some users shared an open secret that Akshay has the issue of not being able to remember dialogues, so a teleprompter is necessary for him. They were unhappy that a top actor taking heavy pay cheques does not prepare his lines but just takes a look at the dialogue easily from a screen. They shared that it was unacceptable as he was taking Rs. 100 crore from a film, and the least he could do was learn the lines.
There was another controversy that alleged that during the promotions of Sarfira, Akshay was given the accusation of using a teleprompter. It was at that time that he was subtly looking off the screen to read his dialogue. The incident did create a debate, and the actor neither confirmed nor denied the allegations that were pressed against him. The discussion has again reignited after the video from the Kannappa video came out in the public domain and added more fuel to the fire. Despite the actor being slammed, left, right and centre, he is unfazed by all the criticisms.

The actor got mixed reviews on the same, and the movie saw modest returns at the box office. His next big project movie is Hera Pheri 3, which has created a lot of buzz after Paresh Rawal's departure and return to the franchise. Speaking of Kannappa, Akshay's movie is a Telugu mythological devotional movie which has been directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh. The story has been written by the lead star, Vishnu Manchu.
