Akshay Kumar, lovingly called 'Khiladi Kumar', is an actor and film producer who has been entertaining the audience for over three decades. The actor has appeared in over 150 films and is well known for his punctuality and discipline. He has been included in the Forbes highest-paid celebrities and highest-paid actors in the world for five consecutive years from 2015 to 2020, with 2019 and 2020 being the years when he was the only Indian on both lists.
Akshay Kumar starrer, Singh Is Kinng was released in 2008. Seven years after its release, the actor came back with the film’s sequel, Singh Is Bliing, in 2015. The film also starred Amy Jackson and Yograj Singh in pivotal roles. While Amy played the female lead, Yograj played the hot-headed father of Akshay’s character, 'Raftaar Singh'. Made on a budget of Rs. 70 crore, the film made Rs. 149 crore worldwide.
For the unversed, Yograj Singh is not just an actor. He is also the father of the phenomenal cricketer, Yuvraj Singh. The actor recently made headlines for his comments about the film business and criticised Taare Zameen Par, which featured Aamir Khan. However, this was not the first time Yograj had made such controversial statements. The actor had previously accused Akshay Kumar of his ill behaviour on the set of Singh Is Bliing. In an interview with Channel Sattrang, Yograj shared:
"I was doing the film Singh is Bliing, where I played the role of Akshay’s father. Now, I shouldn’t say anything, yet I am sharing… I was doing a scene where the girl (Amy) comes, I explain things to her through gestures as I don’t know English (in the film). During the scene, I had to point my finger towards Akshay. Suddenly, Akshay felt offended…He got up and went to the director, who is a dancer from the South, Prabhudeva. He said, 'Tell him not to point his finger at me.' I was stunned."
In the same conversation, Yograj Singh shares that he was shooting for a scene that involved him talking to Amy Jackson's character, 'Sara Rana'. During the scene, Yograj had to converse with the actress through hand gestures after 'Raftaar Singh', played by Akshay Kumar, brought her to their house in Punjab. However, he added that Akshay got offended, had his dialogues removed, and cut his song short. Yograj was quoted saying:
"I was just delivering my dialogue, and he changed my dialogue. I wondered, 'How can someone behave so badly even after reaching such great heights.' Then I thought, 'Let it be. How is it my concern?' But I really felt bad. They even cut short my song. These things happen; they have existed before, and they still exist in Mumbai and our country."
Yograj Singh is an actor and former cricketer. He played one Test and six One Day Internationals for India. Unfortunately, his stint in the sport was short, as he had to quit cricket after an injury. However, he later entered the film industry and has since worked in several Punjabi and Hindi films, including Teen Thay Bhai and Bhaag Milkha Bhaag.
